In a sealed letter producing device which folds and seals, with a content, an envelope sheet on which pressure-sensitive adhesives are provided, sealing with pressure rollers smaller than in conventional rollers is achieved. Pressure-sensitive adhesives 106 are provided in both edge portions in the width direction of an envelope sheet 100, and remoistening paste 107 is provided inwardly of both edge portions. The remoistening paste is moistened when the envelope sheet wrapping a content is bent and formed into an envelope 50, the entire surface of the envelope is pressurized by low-pressure rollers and adhered with the remoistening paste, and further only both edge portions of the envelope 50 are pressurized by an upper and lower set and a left and right pair of the pressure rollers 80, 80 having a small width to adhere the pressure-sensitive adhesive 106. High pressure required for adhesion of the pressure-sensitive adhesives is only necessary in both edge portions of the envelope, and therefore small pressure rollers 80 will suffice.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion capable of forming a toner image on an envelope including a flap; a stacking portion configured to stack the envelope; a fixing portion configured to fix the toner image on the envelope; a display portion configured to display information; an acquiring portion configured to acquire information corresponding to a kind of the envelope; and a controller configured to control the display portion when a double-side mode is selected, so that a stacking method in which the envelope is stacked on the stacking portion in a state in which an orientation of the envelope is designated on the basis of the information acquired by the acquiring portion is displayed at the display portion.

An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device that includes a pressing unit and a heating unit provided facing the pressing unit, an image-forming-apparatus body in which the fixing device is housed and to and from which the fixing device is attachable and detachable, a fixing-device-attachment-detachment-detecting member that detects attachment or detachment of the fixing device to or from the image-forming-apparatus body, and a controller that controls, if the fixing-device-attachment-detachment-detecting member detects the detachment of the fixing device from the image-forming-apparatus body, the image-forming-apparatus body to take a position where the pressing unit and the heating unit are to be pressed against each other.

An envelope processing apparatus inserts an enclosure into an envelope and includes a first conveyor, a first ejector, a second conveyor, a second ejector, and circuitry. The first conveyor conveys the enclosure to an enclosing position. The envelope in which the enclosure is enclosed is ejected to the first ejector. The second conveyor conveys the envelope to the enclosing position via an envelope conveyance passage extended in a substantially vertical and up-and-down direction and conveys the envelope in which the enclosure is inserted to the first ejector. The second ejector is separate from the first ejector. The enclosure is ejected to the second ejector. The circuitry controls a conveyance operation of the first conveyor and the second conveyor.

An image forming apparatus including an image forming portion, a fixing device, a pressure switching mechanism, and a controller. The fixing device includes a fixing member, a heating portion, and a pressing member. The pressure switching mechanism is configured to switch pressure between the fixing member and the pressing member. The controller is configured to execute an operation in an image forming mode in which the image is capable of being formed on an envelope. The controller is configured to cause the pressure switching mechanism to switch the pressure to a first pressure when an instruction to form the image on an address side of the envelope is inputted and to cause the pressure switching mechanism to switch the pressure to a second pressure when an instruction to form the image on a non-address side of the envelope is inputted. The second pressure is higher than the first pressure.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion capable of forming a toner image on an envelope including a flap; a stacking portion configured to stack the envelope; a fixing portion configured to fix the toner image on the envelope; a display portion configured to display information; and a controller configured to control the display portion so that when a double-side mode in which the images are formed on the double sides of the envelope is selected, a stacking method in which the envelope is stacked on the stacking portion so as to fix the image on a flap-formed side when the envelope first passes through the fixing portion is displayed at the display portion.

A mail creation method includes forming an address, forming an image, folding, inserting, sealing, and fixing a voucher. In the forming of the address, an image forming section forms the address on an envelope. In the forming of the image, the image forming section forms the image on paper. In the folding, a folding section folds the paper having the image formed thereon. In the inserting, an enclosing section inserts the folded paper into the envelope having the address formed thereon. In the sealing, the enclosing section seals the envelope having the folded paper inserted therein. In the fixing of the voucher, a voucher fixing section fixes the voucher to the sealed envelope. The voucher indicates that postage has been paid.

An image forming apparatus includes a stacking unit for stacking types of envelopes, an image forming unit that forms an image on a conveyed envelope, a rear-end regulating plate, provided on the stacking unit, that regulates a trailing end of the stacked envelope at an upstream side of a conveyance direction, side regulating plates, provided on the stacking unit, that regulate both side ends of the stacked envelope in a perpendicular direction to the conveyance direction, an attachment, removably mounted on the stacking unit, that regulates a trailing end of the stacked envelope, an operation unit that accepts a type of envelope via an instruction by a user, and a controller that determines, based on the type of the accepted envelope, whether the attachment is necessary, and, if it is determined that the attachment is necessary, displays information, on the operation unit, prompting the user to mount the attachment.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion; a fixing device including a fixing member, a heating portion and a pressing member; a pressure switching mechanism configured to switch pressure between the fixing member and the pressing member; and a controller capable of executing an operation in an image forming mode in which the image is capable of being formed on the envelope by causing the pressure switching mechanism to switch the pressure to first pressure when an instruction to form the image on an address side of the envelope is inputted and by causing the pressure switching mechanism to switch the pressure to second pressure higher than the first pressure when an instruction to form the image on a non-address side of the envelope is inputted.

An image forming apparatus includes a stacking portion, an image forming portion, an acquiring portion, and an executing portion capable of executing, on the basis of image data acquired by the acquiring portion, an operation in a first image forming mode in which an image is formed on an envelope stacked on the stacking portion in a state in which a flap of the envelope is open. The executing portion forms an image ranging between the flap closed and the non-address side by automatically reversing and feeding the envelope to form an image on the flap on an address side and to form an image on the non-address side.
