Recording medium processing device and image forming apparatus
A recording medium processing device includes: a pair of contacting members including a first contacting member and a second contacting member, the first contacting member and the second contacting member contacting each other at a contact portion and contacting a recording medium passing through the contact portion, a contact position of the second contacting member on the first contacting member changing in response to displacement of the second contacting member with respect to the first contacting member in a state of being held in a position for recording medium transportation; and a guide member mounted to the second contacting member, the guide member guiding the recording medium having passed through the contact portion at which the first contacting member and the second contacting member contact each other.
Fixing device having reciprocating separating claw and image forming apparatus
A fixing device includes a fixing member, a pressuring member, a separating claw separating a recording medium from the fixing member and a moving mechanism of the separating claw. The moving mechanism includes a biasing member, coaxial two input gears having different numbers of teeth, a bearing depression and a shaft protrusion. The two input gears rotate according to rotation the fixing or pressuring member while shifting by a difference of the numbers of teeth for each rotation. The bearing depression is depressed in one input gear, and has an inclined contact face. The shaft protrusion is protruded from the other input gear, and has an inclined distal end face contact with the contact face. The two input gears rotate to repeat coincidence of inclination directions of the contact face and the distal end face and shifting the inclination directions, and reciprocatingly move the separating claw.

Fuser stripping mechanism with beveled tip
A fuser apparatus includes first and second rollers in nip relation to transport a receiver member therebetween. A stripping mechanism a skive assembly having an elongated, thin, flexible skive finger, wherein a tip of the skive finger is beveled with first and second bevel surfaces with respective sweep angles forming a sharp edge along an upper surface of the skive finger. A mounting mechanism positions the skive finger in operative relation to the first roller with a bottom surface of the skive finger contacting the surface of the first roller at a contact point spaced apart from the tip of the skive finger such that the sharp edge along the first surface of the skive finger is spaced apart from the surface of the first roller by a distance of between 50 and 120 microns.

Image forming apparatus
A reciprocating mechanism reciprocates by drive force from a drive source and to press a chute to move from a first position to a second position. In response to determining that a parameter is greater than a threshold for the parameter, a controller executes a first mode of actuating the drive source when conveying one sheet. The parameter decreases as a conveyance speed of the sheet at the fixing nip increases. The threshold is such a value that, when the parameter is greater than the threshold, a difference between a conveyance speed of the sheet at a transfer nip and the conveyance speed of the sheet at the fixing nip is greater than a particular level. In response to determining that the parameter is smaller than or equal to the threshold, the controller executes a second mode of not actuating the drive source when conveying one sheet.
Fixing device including separator with contact portion and image forming apparatus
A fixing device includes a fixing belt heated by a heater. A pressure roller presses against the fixing belt to form a nip therebetween, through which a recording medium is conveyed. A holding portion is disposed opposite an inner circumferential face of the fixing belt at each lateral end of the fixing belt in a longitudinal direction thereof. The holding portion rotatably holds the fixing belt. A separator separates the recording medium from the fixing belt. The separator includes a contact portion that contacts the fixing belt and is disposed outboard from a recording medium conveyance region in the longitudinal direction of the fixing belt. The recording medium is conveyed over the fixing belt in the recording medium conveyance region. The contact portion is disposed opposite the holding portion via the fixing belt. The separator further includes a biasing member that presses the contact portion toward the fixing belt.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes a transfer roller, a fuser, a chute, a drive source, a reciprocating mechanism, and a controller. The transfer roller transfers toner to a sheet. The fuser fixes toner on the sheet. The chute is located upstream from the fuser in a sheet conveying direction. The chute is configured to convey the sheet toward the fuser. The chute is movable between a first position and a second position. The reciprocating mechanism reciprocates by drive force from the drive source and moves the chute between the first position and the second position. The controller executes: a first mode of actuating the drive source when conveying one sheet; and a second mode of not actuating the drive source when conveying one sheet. The controller switches between the first mode and the second mode in a middle of a print job.
