An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device and a drive transmission mechanism. The fixing device fixes an image on a sheet by application of heat and pressure. The drive transmission mechanism changes a conveying speed of the sheet in the fixing device between an image forming mode and a lamination mode. The conveying speed of the sheet in the fixing device in the lamination mode is lower than the conveying speed of the sheet in the fixing device in the image forming mode.

A post-processing device includes: multiple types of post-processing modules that are disposed at predetermined installation positions within the post-processing device and each execute post-processing to an output sheet on which an image is formed; and a controller that (i) detects the post-processing modules at the installation positions and (ii) determines and controls adjustment contents of the post-processing modules based on a detection result.

An image forming apparatus includes an image processing unit that executes, with respect to image data, image processing that adjusts an amount of a printing material to be applied to a printing medium, a calculation unit that calculates an amount of change of pixel values between a target pixel and a peripheral pixel that is adjacent to the target pixel, and a control unit that controls whether to execute the image processing for the target pixel based on the calculated amount of change of pixel values. In addition, a printing unit prints an image on the printing medium based on image data resulting from the control of execution of the image processing by the control unit.

An image forming apparatus comprises a main body, a post-processing device, an objective working section, a light source and a shade member. The post-processing device is disposed freely displaceable between a retracted position at which it is received by an intra-body paper discharge section of the main body and a protruded position at which it is drawn to one side face side. The objective working section is disposed on an upstream side face of the post-processing device in the drawing direction of the post-processing device. The light source is disposed on the upstream side face of the post-processing device, and lights up the objective working section at the protruded position. The shade member is disposed on the upstream side face of the post-processing device and in the front face side from the light source, and blocks direct projection light of the light source to the front face side.

Controlling execution of image processing that adjusts an amount of a printing material applied to the printing medium based on an amount of change of pixel values of image data.
