The electrophotographic photosensitive member is an electrophotographic photosensitive member including, in this order: a support; a photosensitive layer; and a protection layer as a surface layer, wherein the protection layer has a surface having a developed area ratio Sdr of 1.0% to 40.0%, and wherein an A value represented by the following formula (1) is 0.10 to 0.27: A=S1/S2 . . . formula (1), where, in the formula (1), S1 represents a peak area based on C═C stretching vibration of an aromatic ring by attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and S2 represents a peak area based on C═O stretching vibration of an ester group by the same method.

An electrophotographic photosensitive member includes: a support; an undercoat layer; a charge generation layer; and a charge transport layer, wherein the undercoat layer contains a polyamide resin and a titanium oxide fine particle, and on the surface of the undercoat layer, an arithmetic mean roughness Ra and an average length Rsm of a roughness curve element both according to JIS B0601:2001 satisfy Ra≤50 nm and 0.1≤Ra/Rsm≤0.5; and the charge generation layer contains a hydroxygallium phthalocyanine pigment, wherein the hydroxygallium phthalocyanine pigment includes crystal particles having a crystal form exhibiting peaks at 7.4°±0.3° and 28.2°±0.3° at Bragg angles 2θ in a spectrum of X-ray diffraction using a CuKα, ray; and in a size distribution of the crystal particles, which is measured using small-angle X-ray scattering, a peak exists in a range of 20 to 50 nm, and the peak has a half-value width of 50 nm or smaller.

In the electrophotographic photosensitive member, an outermost surface layer of the electrophotographic photosensitive member comprises a polymerized product of a composition comprising at least a polyrotaxane and a monomer having a polymerizable reactive group, and a chain molecule of the polyrotaxane has two blocking groups at both terminals thereof, and a (meth)acryloyloxy group of a cyclic molecule of the polyrotaxane forms a bond.

The electrophotographic photosensitive member is an electrophotographic photosensitive member including a surface protective layer, wherein the surface protective layer is a polymerized film of a composition containing a compound having one of an acryloyloxy group or a methacryloyloxy group, a conductive particle, and an organic salt formed of at least one organic cation selected from the group consisting of: imidazolium; pyridinium; pyrrolidinium; piperidinium; a tetraalkylammonium; and a tetraalkylphosphonium, and at least one anion selected from the group consisting of organic or inorganic anions, and wherein the content of the organic salt is 0.1 mass % to 10.0 mass % with respect to the total mass of the conductive particle.

A process cartridge that is detachable from a main body of an electrophotographic apparatus, in which a surface protective layer of an electrophotographic photosensitive member contains an electroconductive particle; the content of the electroconductive particle is 20.0 to 70.0% by volume of the surface protective layer; the surface protective layer has a volume resistivity of 1.0×10.sup.9 to 1.0×10.sup.14 Ω.Math.cm; a toner particle has at least one multivalent metal element selected from the group consisting of aluminum, magnesium, calcium, and iron; and a total content of the multivalent metal elements in the toner particle, as measured by coupled induction plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), is 0.10 to 1.25 μmol/g.

An electrophotographic photoreceptor includes an intermediate layer, a photosensitive layer, and a surface protective layer, deposited in this order on an electroconductive support. The surface protective layer includes a resin and a p-type semiconductor microparticle contained in the resin. The intermediate layer includes a resin and at least one metal oxide microparticle contained in the resin. The at least one metal oxide microparticle is selected from the group consisting of untreated tin oxide particles, tin oxide particles surface-treated with organic compounds, untreated anatase titanium oxide particles, anatase titanium oxide particles surface-treated with organic compounds, untreated rutile titanium oxide particles, and rutile titanium oxide particles surface-treated with organic compounds.

A photoconductor is provided. The photoconductor includes a support, an undercoat layer overlying the support, and a photosensitive layer overlying the undercoat layer.
