In an image forming apparatus including a plurality of image forming stations, on the basis of a density of a toner image formed in an upstream image forming station, an operation of a pre-exposure device in a downstream image forming station is controlled.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device, a fixing device including a first rotary member of which a surface layer containing a fluororesin is brought into contact with a sheet surface having an unfixed toner image formed by the image forming device, and a controller. In a case that image formation processing for continuously forming a toner image on a plurality of predetermined sheets is executed, the controller can control conveyance of a sheet so that a portion of the surface layer of the first rotary member which is brought into contact with a trailing edge of a preceding sheet is brought into contact with a margin area on a leading edge side on a next sheet.

A developing device includes a developing container, a detecting unit including a base portion and a detecting portion, a feeding path, a feeding screw, and a recessed portion provided on a side wall of the developing container. The recessed portion is disposed so as to project toward the feeding screw in the feeding path. The side wall includes a projected region projected toward the screw portion in the feeding path by the recessed portion and a region other than the projected region. The feeding screw includes a first screw portion opposing the projected region and a second screw portion opposing the region other than the projected region. The first screw portion includes a rotation shaft which includes a portion having a shaft diameter smaller than a shaft diameter of a rotation shaft of the second screw portion.

In an image forming apparatus including a plurality of image forming stations, a pre-exposure device is not provided in at least a most upstream image forming station at which a toner image formed by the image forming station cannot arrive, and the pre-exposure device is provided in at least a most downstream image forming station at which the toner image formed by the image forming station can arrive.

An image forming apparatus (1) includes an image bearing member (50), a charging section (51), a developing section (52), and a cleaning member (81). The image bearing member (50) contains filler particles (87). The charging section (51) is either in contact with or positioned close to the image bearing member (50) and is configured to electrically charge the image bearing member (50) by generating a proximity discharge between the charging section (51) and the image bearing member (50). An image forming apparatus forms a first image by adjusting a photosensitive member potential to a first charging potential and adjusting a developing potential to a first developing potential, and forms a second image by adjusting the member potential to a second charging potential, adjusting the developing potential to a second developing potential, but not causing an exposure unit to expose a photosensitive member, and forms a third image by adjusting the developing potential to a third developing potential, but not causing a charging unit to charge the member, and not causing the exposure unit to expose the member, and detects a streak image based on read data of the first, second and third images, and read data corresponding to a non-image region of the test sheet.

A power supply device includes a DC power supply circuit to output a DC voltage, an AC power supply circuit to generate an AC voltage, and a power supply control circuit to control the DC power supply circuit and the AC power supply circuit. The AC power supply circuit outputs a superimposed voltage in which the DC voltage is superimposed with the AC voltage. The power supply control circuit controls the DC power supply circuit to output the DC voltage according to a DC output value corresponding to the AC voltage.

An image forming apparatus includes a first forming unit that forms a first image with a substantially flat toner containing a substantially flat metal pigment on a moving movable body; a second forming unit that forms a second image with a substantially non-flat toner on the movable body; a transfer unit that forms a nip with the movable body while circulating and transfers the first image and the second image on a medium transported to the nip; a removing unit that includes a rotational body and removes the toners adhering to the transfer unit, the rotational body having an axis and being configured to rotate around the axis; and a controller that, if the controller causes the first forming unit to form the first image, stops the rotation of the rotational body around the axis.

A control device for an image forming apparatus that transitions to a restricted mode which is a print mode to alternately transition between a printable state to perform a print operation, in which a predetermined print amount is printable, and a sleep state to stop a subsequent print operation for a predetermined sleep time after the print operation is performed, includes a print-operation determiner and a print controller. The print-operation determiner determines, when a print-operation execution request to the image forming apparatus is received in the sleep state, whether the image forming apparatus is to perform the subsequent print operation based on a print amount of the print-operation execution request. The print controller controls the subsequent print operation of the image forming apparatus according to a determination result of the print-operation determiner as to whether the image forming apparatus is to perform the subsequent print operation.

An image forming apparatus is provided with a setting unit that sets a white toner amount per unit area corresponding to lightness of a recording medium that forms a white image using white toner, and an image forming unit that forms a white image using a white toner amount per unit area which is set by the setting unit and forms a color image using colored toner.
