Lubricant metering for photoconductor in imaging device
An imaging device has a photoconductive drum with a surface that is selectively discharged to create a latent electrostatic image for attracting toner for transfer to a media moving in a process direction. The image is divided into multiple segments along the process direction and discharged pixels per segment are counted. An accumulator keeps track of the numbers of pixels per revolutions of a roller that applies the toner to the drum. Upon meeting a predetermined deficiency in the counts of pixels in any given segment, an artificial image gets generated on the surface of the photoconductive drum that supplies the missing pixels, per segment. The image gets developed with toner, but does not transfer to the media. Lubrication occurs on the surface of the drum and each segment retains a relatively common number of imaging pixels that get developed over time.

Image forming apparatus, image forming system and image forming method
An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit that prints an image on a transfer medium based on image data; a conveyance unit that conveys the transfer medium; a duplex printing mechanism that inverts and conveys the transfer medium on one surface of which an image is formed, and conveys the transfer medium to a conveyance direction upstream side of the image forming unit; and a control unit that controls the image forming unit and the conveyance unit, the control unit has a function of printing a first additional image outside an image forming area of the transfer medium by the image forming unit, and when printing the first additional image, the control unit is capable of control of inhibiting printing of the first additional image on one or both of a leading transfer medium and a final transfer medium in a bundle of piled up transfer media.
Image forming apparatus capable of performing duplex alignment without producing a waste sheet
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device, a trim mark adder, a duplex alignment mark adder and a hardware processor. The image forming device is capable of forming an image on both sides of a sheet based on an image data. The trim mark adder adds trim mark information to the image data so that a trim mark is formed at a trimming position of the sheet. The duplex alignment mark adder adds duplex alignment mark information to the image data so that a duplex alignment mark is formed in a margin area between an edge of the sheet and the trimming position on both sides of the sheet. The hardware processor performs a duplex alignment of the image data based on a result of scanning the duplex alignment mark.
