A developing device includes a developing rotator configured to rotate through a developing region while carrying a magnetic developer, a supply transport member configured to rotate to transport the developer to be supplied to the developing rotator, a non-magnetic movement assist member arranged between the developing rotator and the supply transport member, and having a slope that receives the developer from the supply transport member and moves the developer to the developing rotator, a first adjusting member having a facing surface that faces, with distances, the slope of the movement assist member and a surface of the developing rotator at a part passing over the movement assist member, and configured to adjust a movement amount of the developer from the movement assist member to the developing rotator and a carrying amount of the developer on the surface of the developing rotator, and a second adjusting member having a distance from the surface of the developing rotator at a part passing over the first adjusting member, and configured to adjust the carrying amount of the developer on the surface of the developing rotator before the developer reaches the developing region. A first minimum distance between the slope of the movement assist member and the facing surface of the first adjusting member, a second minimum distance between the facing surface of the first adjusting member and the surface of the developing rotator, and a third minimum distance between the second adjusting member and the surface of the developing rotator are reduced in descending order.

A developing device includes a first developing roller, a second developing roller, a first end portion configured to restrict the amount of developer on the second developing roller, a restriction member, and a collecting roller configured to collect developer on the first developing roller. The second end portion is located at a position where magnetic force interference with a magnetic force generated by the second developing roller and the collecting roller is not caused.

A continuous sheet transport device transports a continuous sheet along a sheet transport path passing through a transfer position at which a toner image is transferred. The device includes a first transport unit that is provided on an upstream side of the transfer position on the sheet transport path and transports the continuous sheet, a sheet feeding unit that is provided on an upstream side of the first transport unit on the sheet transport path and that feeds the continuous sheet, a leasing end of which is placed on the sheet feeding unit, toward a downstream side on the sheet transport path, and an operation controller that controls the first transport unit to temporarily operate in a reverse transport direction so that the continuous sheet is transported to the upstream side at a timing before the leading end of the continuous sheet reaches the first transport unit.

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member and a developing device having a first developer bearing member and a second developer bearing member, disposed with a gap therebetween. A controller executes a mode in which a first difference between an amplitude of an alternating current bias of a first developing bias applied to the first developer bearing member and an amplitude of an alternating current bias of a second developing bias applied to the second developer bearing member at a time of non-image formation is set to be large compared to a second difference between an amplitude of the alternating current bias of the first developing bias applied to the first developer bearing member and an amplitude of the alternating current bias of the second developing bias applied the second developer bearing member at a time of image formation.

A developing device includes a developing rotator configured to rotate through a developing region while carrying a magnetic developer, a supply transport member configured to rotate to transport the developer to be supplied to the developing rotator, a non-magnetic movement assist member arranged between the developing rotator and the supply transport member, and having a slope that receives the developer from the supply transport member and moves the developer to the developing rotator, a first adjusting member having a facing surface that faces, with distances, the slope of the movement assist member and a surface of the developing rotator at a part passing over the movement assist member, and configured to adjust a movement amount of the developer from the movement assist member to the developing rotator and a carrying amount of the developer on the surface of the developing rotator, and a second adjusting member having a distance from the surface of the developing rotator at a part passing over the first adjusting member, and configured to adjust the carrying amount of the developer on the surface of the developing rotator before the developer reaches the developing region. A first minimum distance between the slope of the movement assist member and the facing surface of the first adjusting member, a second minimum distance between the facing surface of the first adjusting member and the surface of the developing rotator, and a third minimum distance between the second adjusting member and the surface of the developing rotator are reduced in descending order.

An image forming apparatus includes: a photoconductor drum; a developing device having a plurality of developer rollers and supplying toner to the photoconductor drum; a first pressing force applier that applies a force to the developing device to press the plurality of developer rollers toward the photoconductor drum; and a second pressing force applier that flexibly holds the developing device in a vertical direction.

A developing device includes a developer bearer rotatable in a rotation direction and forming a developing range, a holder, and an entrance seal. The holder has a facing face facing the developer bearer upstream from the developing range in the rotation direction, a support face defining a part of an outer face of the developing device, and a relay face extending from one end of the support face to one end of the relay face connected to the facing face to form an acute tip portion closer to the developing range than the one end. The entrance seal has a free end projecting from the one end as a cantilever, and a length of the entrance seal from a tip of the free end of the entrance seal to the one end is shorter than a length of the relay face from the acute tip portion to the one end.

An image forming apparatus includes a latent image bearer configured to bear a latent image and a developing device configured to develop the latent image on the latent image bearer with developer. The developing device includes a plurality of developer bearers configured to bear the developer. The image forming apparatus further includes a rotation position detector configured to detect a rotation position of at least one of the plurality of developer bearers, a common power source configured to apply a developing bias to each of the plurality of developer bearers, and circuitry configured to cause the common power source to periodically vary the developing bias. The circuitry is configured to cause the plurality of developer bearers to rotate in a same rotation period; and vary an output value of the developing bias in a same period as the rotation period based on a detection result by the rotation position detector.

An image forming apparatus includes a latent image bearer configured to bear a latent image and a developing device configured to develop the latent image on the latent image bearer with developer. The developing device includes a plurality of developer bearers configured to bear the developer. The image forming apparatus further includes a rotation position detector configured to detect a rotation position of at least one of the plurality of developer bearers, a common power source configured to apply a developing bias to each of the plurality of developer bearers, and circuitry configured to cause the common power source to periodically vary the developing bias. The circuitry is configured to cause the plurality of developer bearers to rotate in a same rotation period; and vary an output value of the developing bias in a same period as the rotation period based on a detection result by the rotation position detector.

A developing device includes: an image bearing member; a plurality of developing rollers each supplying toner to the image bearing member, and developing an electrostatic latent image on the image bearing member into a toner image; and a hardware processor analyzing values representing density fluctuations during the toner being supplied from the developing rollers to the image bearing member, for the respective developing rollers, and correcting a control value for an image density of at least one developing roller among the developing rollers based on an result of the analyzing so as to eliminate the density fluctuations, in consideration of an effect caused at the developing roller on a downstream side in a rotational direction of the image bearing member by correcting the control value for the image density of the developing roller on an upstream side.
