METHOD TO DETERMINE AUTHENTICITY OF SECURITY HOLOGRAM
A method to determine authenticity of a security feature of an identification document, characterized by receiving a real-time video feed of the identification document with a light source directed at the identification document to make visible a security hologram; processing the real-time video feed into a plurality of image sequence; analysing each image from the plurality of image sequence for a glare and the security hologram, wherein the glare is a reflection of the light source from the identification document; analysing the position of the glare and the security hologram in each image from the plurality of image sequence; evaluating whether the position of the glare and the position of the security hologram is caused by the light source; and providing authenticity result of the identification document captured from the real-time video feed.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AN INTEGRATED HOLOGRAPHIC REOCNSTURCTION TOOL WITH OPTICAL DISTORTION REMOVAL AND DE-TWINNING
Embodiments described herein provide an integrated holographic reconstruction platform that enables a user to perform three-dimensional visualization of a phenomenon by reconstructing holograms using a combination of normalization and propagation algorithms, which yields better results with significantly less demanding processing time and computing resources. Specifically, the integrated holographic reconstruction platform may be implemented as an all-in-one computer software that includes software components of digital holographic reconstruction, de-twining and optical distortion removal via a user-friendly graphical interface.
HOLOGRAPHIC STORAGE OPTICAL SYSTEM AND BEAM CALIBRATING METHOD THEREOF
A holographic storage optical system includes a storage medium, a recording unit, an imaging unit and a servo unit. The recording unit comprises a movable Fourier lens, by which the positions and irradiation angles of a signal light spot and a reference light spot are adjusted. The servo unit comprises a calibration lens for adjusting the positions of a servo light spot in the horizontal and vertical directions so that the servo light spot is located at an optimal position relative to signal light beam and reference light beam. The beam calibrating method comprises (1) before recording a data hologram, burning a calibration hologram at a calibration holographic positioning mark on an optical track of a storage medium; (2) before reproducing the data hologram, using the calibration hologram to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio of the hologram reproduced by adjusting the calibration lens and the Fourier lens.
COMPLEX DIVERSITY FOR ACCURATE PHASE RETRIEVAL WITH SINGLE SHOT ACQUISITION
A new diversity concept is provided for achieving accurate phase retrieval with a singleshot acquisition. Multiple irradiance data are obtained by a diffractive grating or CGH designed to generate multiple diffraction orders with different diversity values. The effective filters associated with the individual diffraction orders from the diffractive grating or CGH are calculated. The effective filters are extracted by numerical propagation, and they preferably include both real and imaginary values, which signify both absorption and phase shift versus position in the filter plane. The reconstruction process utilizes accurate knowledge of the effective filters for each diffraction order for high quality reconstruction of the extrinsic phase.
HOLOGRAPHIC DISPLAY APPARATUS, HEAD-UP DISPLAY APPARATUS, AND IMAGE PROVIDING METHOD
A holographic display apparatus includes a backlight unit having a light source configured to emit coherent light, a spatial light modulator configured to diffract incident light from the backlight unit and generate a holographic image, a beam deflector configured to change a traveling direction of the incident light from the backlight unit to change a focal position of the holographic image, an eye-tracking sensor configured to recognize positions of a viewer's eyeballs, and a controller configured to perform, in real time, calibration of the eye-tracking sensor and the beam deflector to focus the holographic image on the recognized positions of the viewer's eyeballs.
CONTRAST CHARACTERIZATION OF MULTI-PLANE HOLOGRAPHIC HUD ACCOUNTING FOR IMAGE ARTIFACTS
A holographic projection system includes a SLM that receives a light beam and generates a modulated beam projected at an eyebox, where: the modulated beam includes multiple versions of a test image; and the test image includes bright objects and transparent regions, which are selected dark areas of interest for measuring luminance. A control module runs a test to characterize contrast in each of multiple virtual image planes including: controlling the SLM to generate the modulated beam; measuring luminance levels of each of the versions of the test image displayed in the virtual image planes; calculating contrast ratios based on the luminance levels of each of the versions of the test image; determining whether the contrast ratios are within predetermined ranges of predetermined contrast ratios; and adjusting operation of the SLM in response to one of the contrast ratios not being within a corresponding one of the predetermined ranges.
HOLOGRAPHIC DISPLAY APPARATUS INCLUDING FREEFORM CURVED SURFACE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF
A holographic display apparatus including a freeform curved surface and an operating method of the holographic display apparatus are provided. The holographic display apparatus includes: an image generator configured to generate a hologram image by modulating light; an optical system including a freeform curved surface for forming the hologram image generated by the image generator in a predetermined depth; and a processor configured to generate a computer-generated hologram (CGH) based on three-dimensional image information by using a phase map including information about an optical aberration with respect to the freeform curved surface and to control the image generator to modulate the light based on the CGH.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING MICRO-OPTICS ON SURFACE-EMITTING LASER DIODES (VCSEL)
A method for producing micro-optics on surface-emitting laser diodes. In a wafer-level operation, the micro-optics are preferably positioned directly on the VCSEL's forming, in each instance, a part of a coherent wafer.
Hologram, detection device, and method for verifying authenticity of hologram
A hologram that includes a formation layer and a reflection layer that are laminated. The formation layer has an optical phase modulation structure on a first interface in contact with the reflection layer. When reference light emitted from a point light source enters through a second interface different from the first interface of the formation layer, the entirety or part of an image to be reconstructed by the optical phase modulation structure is reconstructed as spatial information on the point light source side relative to the second interface.
