A lighting device for vehicles, and in particular headlamps, having a light source unit, and having a holographic unit for the generation of a given light distribution. The holographic unit has a hologram on the basis of a photo-sensitive material, onto which the holographic information is applied by means of an exposure process. The hologram is formed by a multitude of hologram segments. The hologram segments are each assigned a separate light source of the light source unit. The hologram segments serve to generate the given light distribution. Herein, holographic information is applied to the hologram segments depending on different wavelengths and different angles of the light source assigned to the hologram segments.

A light detection and ranging system arranged to scan a scene is provided. A light source outputs light having a first characteristic. A spatial light modulator receives output light from the light source and outputs spatially-modulated light in accordance with computer-generated holograms represented thereon. A light detector receives light having the first characteristic from the scene and outputs a light response signal. A holographic controller is arranged to output a plurality of computer-generated holograms to the spatial light modulator. Each computer-generated hologram is arranged to form structured light having a corresponding pattern within the scene. The holographic controller is further arranged to change the pattern of the structured light formed by at least one of the plurality of computer-generated holograms.

The spatial light modulation panel includes first color filters, second color filters, and third color filters. The number of the second color filters is greater than the number of each of the first and third color filters. During a turned-on state of the spatial light modulation panel, a distance between second color images displayed through the second color filters is substantially equal to a distance between first color images displayed through the first color filters and a distance between third color images displayed through the third color filters.

One or more virtual light sources (30) are arranged on one or more partial regions of the surface (21) of one or more of the virtual models (20). One or more virtual electromagnetic fields (40) are calculated starting from at least one of the virtual light sources (30) in one or more zones (11) of the one or more virtual hologram planes (10). In the one or more zones (11), in each case, a virtual total electromagnetic field (41) is calculated on the basis of the sum of two or more, of the virtual electromagnetic fields (40) in the respective zone (11). One or more phase images (50) are calculated from the virtual total electromagnetic fields (41) in the one or more zones (11). Method for observing a sample

A method for observing a sample includes illuminating the sample with a light source and forming a plurality of images, by an imager, the images representing the light transmitted by the sample in different spectral bands. From each image, a complex amplitude representative of the light wave transmitted by the sample is determined in a determined spectral band. The method further includes backpropagation of each complex amplitude in a plane passing through the sample, determining a weighting function from the back-propagated complex amplitudes, propagating the weighting function in a plane along which the matrix photodetector extends, updating each complex amplitude, in the plane of the sample, according to the weighting function propagated.

There is provided a lighting device arranged to produce a controllable light beam for illuminating a scene. The device comprises an addressable spatial light modulator arranged to provide a selectable phase delay distribution to a beam of incident light.
