The underlying invention relates in particular to a production module for a production line which is modularly populatable with production modules. In embodiments, provision is made whereby the production module comprises at least one manipulator unit with which a workpiece or a workpiece component is, during the production process, transferable between a deposit position and a production position in the production space of a production module which, for the execution of a production step, is positioned directly downstream in a production direction (R) along the production line.

Apparatus and method for interfacing a plurality of remote devices to a programmable logic controller (PLC)

A configurable, connectorized system for providing RTU monitoring of field digital and analog parameters and transmitting data to the Central PLC system dramatically reduces the number of wire connections that must be made to connect sensors and actuators to a PLC system. The system is also extremely rugged and safe to be located in a hazardous environment.

Multiple controllers configuration management interface for system connectivity

A configuration management interface system is provided for standardizing communication between an external application and one or more hardware or emulated industrial controllers. The interface system reads one or more industrial control programs and presents available data tags defined by the control programs to a user via an interface screen. The user can select a subset of the available data tags that are to be exposed to the external application for data communication. Based on the selected data tags, controller configuration information read from the control programs, and additional configuration information provided by the user, the interface system generates a control unit file that acts as a communication bridge between the external application and the selected data tags residing on the industrial controllers. The control unit file can be used to interface the application (e.g., an industrial simulation or another type of application) with either hardware controllers or emulated controllers.

Method and device for managing and configuring field devices in an automation installation

A method/device for managing/configuring field devices in an automation installation with a configuration tool designed to physically identify a field device therein, to logically incorporate it into, and configure it in, the automation installation, wherein the configuration tool to uses a prescribed field-device-type-specific information package describing functions and data of the field device at least partially and wherein the configuration tool has a server and a client, the server being designed to integrate received configuration data with the field-device-type-specific information package into an information package and to validate and process the information package with a piece of validation logic, and the client having a user interface for taking the configuration data. To avoid bottlenecks in the client/server communication, the client is equipped with an information package instance, and is designed to integrate taken configuration data into a package and validate the package. The server is designed to take validated packages.
