A control device for a machine tool includes a tool mounted on a main spindle relatively movable with respect to a workpiece and machines the workpiece using the tool. The control device includes: a parameter preparing unit, an evacuation unit, and an evacuation diagnosing unit. The parameter preparing unit preliminarily stores a predetermined parameter relating to a control. The evacuation unit causes the tool to perform an evacuation operation from the workpiece. The evacuation diagnosing unit diagnoses whether the evacuation operation is normal. When the evacuation diagnosing unit diagnoses that the evacuation operation is abnormal, the evacuation operation is cancelled.

A machine tool includes a first motor that receives load fluctuation when the workpiece is processed and a second motor that operates to change the plural kinds of tools. An information processing device takes out the current of the first motor measured by the first current sensor for each signal that occurs at the changing operation of the plural kinds of tools and is measured by the second current sensor, and relatively compares a non-negative function value that has a current value at each taken-out segment as a parameter for each number of times of processing on the workpiece, thereby detecting a tool abnormality for each kind of the tool.

METHOD FOR AUTOMATIC PROCESS MONITORING IN CONTINUOUS GENERATION GRINDING
20220134459 · 2022-05-05 · ·

A method for automatic process monitoring during continuous generating grinding of pre-toothed workpieces, which permit early detection of grinding wheel breakouts. A generating grinding machine is used to machine multiple workpieces by clamping them onto at least one workpiece spindle and successively moving them into generating engagement with a grinding wheel. At least one measured variable is monitored during the machining to indicate if a grinding wheel breakout exists. If a grinding wheel breakout is indicated, the grinding wheel is examined automatically by moving a dressing tool over the tip region of the grinding wheel and generating a contact signal. A breakout is determined by analyzing the contact signal and, if present, the grinding wheel is dressed as often as necessary in order to eliminate the grinding wheel breakout. Alternatively, the checking of the grinding wheel is carried out directly at the first dressing stroke.
