The method comprises applying a vacuum to two or more cup assemblies of the robotic gripper in contact with the object, moving the object with the robotic gripper after applying the vacuum to the two or more cup assemblies, and determining, using at least one pressure sensor associated with each of the two or more cup assemblies, a grip quality between the robotic gripper and the object.

The control unit estimates an external force applied to the target object gripped by the grip portion based on the slip detected by the slip detection unit, and controls the gripping force based on the estimated external force.
