EVALUATION OF CALIBRATION FOR SURGICAL TOOL
The disclosed embodiments relate to systems and methods for a surgical tool or a surgical robotic system. An example computer-implemented method for evaluating calibrations of a surgical tool includes fixating a joint of the surgical tool at a first angle, the joint being driven by an actuator, measuring an actuator position corresponding to the first angle, accessing a calibrated offset corresponding to the first angle, determining an expected joint angle based on the measured actuator position and the calibrated offset, and reporting a first difference between the expected joint angle and the first angle.
Estimating joint friction and tracking error of a robotics end effector
A computerized method for estimating joint friction in a joint of a robotic wrist of an end effector. Sensor measurements of force or torque in a transmission that mechanically couples a robotic wrist to an actuator, are produced. Joint friction in a joint of the robotic wrist that is driven by the actuator is computed by applying the sensor measurements of force or torque to a closed form mathematical expression that relates transmission force or torque variables to a joint friction variable. A tracking error of the end effector is also computed, using a closed form mathematical expression that relates the joint friction variable to the tracking error. Other aspects are also described and claimed.
REAL TIME MONITORING OF A ROBOTIC DRIVE MODULE
The surgical robotic system includes a robotic arm having one or more joints, each having a motor and at least one torque sensor and a velocity sensor. The system also includes a main controller, which outputs a drive command to the motor thereby actuating the motor. The system further includes a safety observer, which receives a measured velocity of the motor from the sensor, calculates an observed velocity, and detects a failure in operation of the at least one joint based on the observed velocity and the measured velocity.
CONTROL ACCESS VERIFICATION OF A HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL
A computing system may identify a surgical instrument for a surgical procedure in an operating room (OR). The computing system may detect a control input by a health care professional (HCP) to control the surgical instrument. The computing system may determine the HCP's access control level associated with the surgical instrument. The computing system may determine whether the HCP has an authorization to control the surgical instrument. If the computing system determines that HCP is unauthorized to control the surgical instrument based on the access control level associated with the HCP, the computing system may block the control input by the HCP. If the computing system determines that the HCP is authorized to control the surgical instrument based on the access control level associated with the HCP, the computing system may effectuate the control input by the HCP to control the surgical instrument.
ELONGATE DEVICE REFERENCES FOR IMAGE-GUIDED PROCEDURES
System and methods for providing an elongate device reference include a system configured determine a pose, within a workspace, of at least one of a distal portion of an elongate device, or an instrument extendable from the distal portion of the elongate device; acquire a reference pose of the at least one of the distal portion of the elongate device, or the instrument; generate an elongate device reference corresponding to the reference pose; generate an image of the workspace from a perspective associated with the pose; and display, on a display system and on the image of the workspace, the elongate device reference at the reference pose.
ALIGNMENT DIFFERENCE SAFETY IN A MASTER-SLAVE ROBOTIC SYSTEM
A method, a non-transitory computer readable medium, and an apparatus for operating the robotic control system comprising a master apparatus (64) in communication with an input device (58, 60) having a handle (102) and a slave system (54, 74) having a tool (66, 67) having an end effector (73) whose position and orientation is determined in response to a current position and current orientation of the handle. The method involves producing a desired end effector position and orientation in response to a current position and orientation of the handle. The method involves causing the input device to provide haptic feedback that impedes translational movement of the handle, while permitting rotational movement of the handle and preventing movement of the end effector, when a rotational alignment difference between the handle and the end effector meets a disablement criterion. The method further involves re-enabling translational movement of the handle when the rotational alignment difference meets an enablement criterion.
COLLISION AVOIDANCE IN SURGICAL ROBOTICS BASED ON DETECTION OF CONTACT INFORMATION
Robotic systems can be capable of collision detection and avoidance. A medical robotic system can include a first kinematic chain and one or more sensors positioned to detect one or more parameters of contact with one or more portions of the first kinematic chain. The medical robotic system can be configured to cause adjustment of a configuration of the first kinematic chain from a first configuration to a second configuration based on a constraint determined from the one or more parameters of contact with the first kinematic chain detected by the one or more sensors.
COLLISION AVOIDANCE IN SURGICAL ROBOTICS BASED ON NON-CONTACT INFORMATION
Robotic systems can be capable of collision detection and avoidance. A medical robotic system can include a first kinematic chain and one or more sensors positioned to detect one or more objects detected within a vicinity of the first kinematic chain. The medical robotic system can be configured to cause adjustment of a configuration of the first kinematic chain from a first configuration to a second configuration based on a constraint determined from the one or more objects detected by the one or more sensors within the vicinity of the first kinematic chain.
Control apparatus and control method of insertion apparatus, insertion apparatus having control apparatus, control program for insertion apparatus, and controlling integrated electronic circuit of insertion apparatus
A control apparatus of an insertion apparatus in which a state specifying unit specifies a state of an insertion member to carry out vibration control depending on the state, thereby removing getting-stuck of a tip of the insertion member with a vibration having such a proper magnitude as not to cause an overload in a case where the tip of the insertion member is gotten stuck.
