To provide a controller for a machine tool that can shred shavings in a sure manner, even if a delay in notification occurs at the time of performing oscillation cutting. This controller of machine tools controls the machine tools that perform cutting working of a work by a cutting tool with a spindle and a feed axis operating cooperatively. The controller includes: an oscillation command calculating unit that calculates an oscillation command to cause relative oscillation of the cutting tool and the work, from a rotation speed of the spindle and a positional command of the cutting tool as to the work; a correction amount calculating unit that calculates a correction amount corresponding to an amount of delay notification to the oscillation command calculating unit regarding the rotation speed of the spindle; and a correction amount superimposing unit that superimposes the correction amount on the oscillation command.

A machine tool includes a workpiece spindle device which rotates a workpiece, a tool post which can move a tool in a first axis direction (X-axis direction) which is a radial direction of the workpiece and a second axis direction (Z-axis direction) which is an axial direction of the workpiece, and an articulated robot including a plurality of arms, a plurality of joints, and end effectors. The plurality of joints connect the plurality of arms in a rotatable manner around an axis parallel to a third axis (Y-axis) orthogonal to the first axis and the second axis, and the end effectors move in a plane parallel to a movement plane of the tool.

In a machine tool and a control apparatus thereof, a repetitive movement unit is configured so that the cutting tool performs one repetitive movement with respect to multiple relative rotations between the workpiece and the cutting tool and so that a rotation angle of the relative rotation between the workpiece and the cutting tool during relative movement at a second speed is smaller than a rotation angle of the relative rotation during relative movement at a first speed in one repetitive movement. This configuration limits degradation of machining efficiency when the cutting tool machines the workpiece by performing one repetitive movement with respect to multiple relative rotations between the workpiece and the cutting tool.

METHOD FOR DEDUCING GEOMETRICAL DEFECTS OF AN OPTICAL ARTICLE TURNING MACHINE

Disclosed is a method for deducing geometrical defects of an optical article turning machine, including a defect value deducing step, during which at least one geometrical defect value is deduced based at least on an indicative information of an optical and/or geometrical data related to an optical and/or geometrical characteristic of a checking piece (10).

An electronic control system is programmed to control movement of a cutting tool relative to a rotating workpiece. After engagement of the stock, the tool is controlled to follow a curved path until the cutting surface of the tool reaches a predetermined depth of cut in the stock. The tool is then controlled to follow a straight/linear path, with the cutting surface of the tool engaged with the stock at said predetermined depth of cut. The control system varies the feed rate as the tool rolls into cut along a known path of curvature, to control the thickness of the material which is removed as the tool rolls into cut, e.g. to induce fracture as the material begins to coil. The feed rate as the tool rolls into cut is programmed to vary in relation to an arc of engagement between a cutting surface of the cutting tool and the stock into which the cutting tool is being moved.
