A method of manufacturing a panel assembly includes supporting the panel assembly in a free state using a holding fixture. The panel assembly has a skin panel, and sacrificial material coupled to a skin panel inner surface. The method includes acquiring a free state outer surface contour of the panel assembly by scanning a skin panel outer surface while the panel assembly is supported by the holding fixture. The method also includes developing a numerically controlled (NC) machining program having cutter paths configured for machining the interface locations to an inner surface contour that reflects nominal thicknesses of the panel assembly based off of the free state outer surface contour. In addition, the method includes machining the sacrificial material at the interface locations by moving a cutter along the cutter paths while the panel assembly is supported by the holding fixture.

At least the outline of the liquid crystal panels and an order quantity are input to the customer terminal by the customer. The processor is configured to control the general design circuit board producing section to produce the general design circuit boards and the frame processing section to process the frames of the general design circuit boards for an order quantity based on the outline of the display panels and the order quantity entered in the customer terminal.

A system for machining semi-rigid curved panels includes a fixturing device within an enclosure cell, the cell having a sealable entrance and a sealable exit. A holding table, moveable through the sealable entrance between the inside and outside of the cell, is configured to receive unfinished semi-rigid curved panels. Another holding table, fixed outside of the cell, is configured to receive processed semi-rigid curved panels. A first robot inside the cell transports the semi-rigid curved panels from the first holding table and onto the fixturing device, later transporting the curved panels from the fixturing device onto the second holding table through the sealable exit. A second robot processes the semi-rigid curved panels on the fixturing device. A controller is configured to sequentially actuate first and second robots for transporting and processing the semi-rigid curved panels, and to manage a vacuum clamping system for workpiece retention on the fixturing device.
