A method for detecting defects in working CNC tools in real time, implemented in an electronic device, includes acquiring sounds of operation of a tool during a cutting or other operation process and dividing the acquired cutting sounds into a plurality of recordings of audio according to a preset time interval. Time-frequency features of the plurality of recordings of audio are acquired according to multiple feature transformation methods and a fusion feature image of the cutting sound is formed according to the extracted time-frequency features. A tool detection model is generated by training the fusion feature image, and any defects of the tool and any defect types the tool has are detected according to the tool detection model.

A machine tool includes a first motor that receives load fluctuation when the workpiece is processed and a second motor that operates to change the plural kinds of tools. An information processing device takes out the current of the first motor measured by the first current sensor for each signal that occurs at the changing operation of the plural kinds of tools and is measured by the second current sensor, and relatively compares a non-negative function value that has a current value at each taken-out segment as a parameter for each number of times of processing on the workpiece, thereby detecting a tool abnormality for each kind of the tool.
Sensing Arrangement for Monitoring Contamination of Cover Slide on Laser Processing Head
A sensing apparatus monitors a cover optic on a laser processing head for contamination, indicating the need to replace the cover optic. The apparatus includes at least one reflector and at least one sensors that are disposed in the processing head adjacent a periphery of the cover optic. The reflector reflects radiation from the laser beam deflected from contamination on the cover optic and incident thereagainst. The sensor is offset from the reflector and detects at least a portion of the radiation reflected by the reflector. A controller in communication with the sensor can determine the contamination on the cover optic based on the detected radiation.
