Method and system for indicating BIOS POST status from a chassis identifying LED
A system and method for providing status information during a power-on self-test routine. The system includes a basic input output system operable to execute the power-on self-test routine and output the status of the power-on self-test routine. The system includes an externally visible indicator such as a server chassis identify LED. A controller is coupled to the basic input output system and the externally visible indicator. The controller is operable to receive the status from the basic input output system, and to control the externally visible indicator in response to the status received from the basic input output system.
Datacenter component maintenance time tracking
Systems and techniques for tracking and providing real-time visualizations of maintenance time for datacenter components. The systems include sensors to detect when datacenter components are opened for maintenance, such as hot switching of hard drive disks, to initialize a countdown timer. Status indicator lights of components within the datacenter component are used to display visual representations of the countdown timer. The visualizations present a remaining or elapsed maintenance time remaining to ensure components of the datacenter component are not damaged by overheating during maintenance.
Persistent crash logging
Techniques for persistent crash logging. The techniques may include making, by a monitor, a first determination that an event information file exists in a volatile storage device location in a volatile storage device. The first determination may be made after an agent event occurs. The techniques may also include performing, by the monitor, an action on a portion of the event information file to obtain a uniquely identifiable filename portion and writing, by the monitor, an event information file copy to a non-volatile storage location in a non-volatile storage device. The techniques may also include, after writing the event information file copy to the non-volatile storage location is complete, renaming, by the monitor, the event information file copy to a uniquely identifiable filename comprising the uniquely identifiable filename portion.
Method and apparatus for controlling LED operation of a storage system
LED operation rules correlating device event, LED action, LED color, and optionally LED brightness are specified in software. As devices connect to a host computer, a correlation between device ID and USB port is detected. A port map for the storage system is used to correlate the location of a USB port where the electronic device connected to a set of LEDs on the storage system. As the states of the electronic devices connected to the storage system change, the custom-defined LED operational rules are applied on the LEDs of the storage system to cause the LEDs identified by the LED operational rules to be illuminated. Since the LED operational rules are customizable, a user can cause any combination of LED action, color, and brightness to be associated with any electronic device state.
DYNAMICALLY ILLUMINATED ELEMENT ON INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEM BEZEL
A bezel configured to mechanically couple to a housing for housing components of an information handling system may include one or more mechanical features for mechanically coupling the bezel to the housing, an illuminated element module mechanically coupled to a mechanical structure of the bezel, and a bezel connector having a plurality of pins communicatively coupled to the illuminated element module, the bezel connector configured to communicatively couple the illuminated element module to an access controller of the information handling system housed within the housing, such that the illuminated element module receives instructions from the access controller for displaying a visual behavior relating to a status of the information handling system and displays the visual behavior in response to receiving the instructions.
Fault content identification device, fault content identification method, and recording medium in which fault content identification program is stored
A fault content identification device 40 identifies details of a fault of a power supply control system in a short time by including: a detection unit 41 which, while a power supply control processing for turning on or turning off a power supply device 60 that supplies power to a main device 50 is in progress, detects that a value indicated by a power supply sequence signal generated by the main device 50 or the power supply device 60 and having a value that transitions in accordance with a prescribed specification, transitions to a value indicating non-conformance to the prescribed specification; and a generation unit 42 for generating information that indicates details of the power supply control processing performed at a timing when the detection unit 41 detects that the value indicated by the power supply sequence signal transitions to the value indicating non-conformance to the prescribed specification.
Systems and methods for mitigating failure to enter standby mode
An information handling system may include a processor, a visual indicator, and a management controller communicatively coupled to the processor and the visual indicator and configured to perform out of band management of the information handling system, the management controller further configured to, responsive to receiving an indication from the processor that the information handling system is attempting to enter a standby mode and prior to the information handling system entering the standby mode, cause the visual indicator to generate a visual indication that the information handling system is attempting to enter the standby mode.
INFRASTRUCTURE FOR PLATFORM IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE
An infrastructure for a platform immersive experience is described. An example of an apparatus includes a microcontroller to receive control parameters for platform lighting options for a computing system and information regarding current system conditions for the computing system, and generate control instructions for a lighting pattern for a set of lights based at least in part on the control parameters and the information regarding current system conditions; and host control circuitry to receive the control instructions for the lighting pattern from the microcontroller, and provide control signals to control the set of lights.
Data Logging with Indication of Violation
A method includes obtaining, by a processing module of a data logging device, a log command. The method further includes determining, by the processing module, whether to enter a finished mode for the data logging device based on a data logging condition. When not in the finished mode and in response to the log command, the method further includes obtaining, by the processing module, a measure of an environmental condition. The method further includes determining, by the processing module, whether the measure of the environmental condition is within an expected range. When the measure of the environmental condition is not within the expected range, the method further includes generating, by the processing module, an environmental violation signal when triggered.
USB-C USAGE INDICATION
A method includes establishing a power link between a power source and a computing device using a cable assembly, the cable assembly including at least one indicator, monitoring a status of the power link at the computing device, determining if the status of the power link includes establishing a communication link, and upon determining the status of the power link includes establishing the communication link determining a direction of data flow along the cable assembly associated with the communication link, and generating a signal using the at least one indicator, the signal indicating the direction of data flow along the cable assembly.
