A vehicle system having: a hardware level, a first operating system, and a virtual machine integrated on the hardware level having a second operating system. A hypervisor operates the virtual machine such that the first and the second operating systems) are operated in parallel on the hardware. A first application is executed on the first operating system and a second application is executed on the second operating system. The first application has a higher safety standard than the second application. The second operating system is configured to be operated in suspend-to-RAM mode while the first operating system is switched off.

System and method for securely connecting to a peripheral device

A device connectable between a host computer and a computer peripheral over a standard bus interface is disclosed, used to improve security, and to detect and prevent malware operation. Messages passing between the host computer and the computer peripherals are intercepted and analyzed based on pre-configured criteria, and legitimate messages transparently pass through the device, while suspected messages are blocked. The device communicates with the host computer and the computer peripheral using proprietary or industry standard protocol or bus, which may be based on a point-to-point serial communication such as USB or SATA. The messages may be stored in the device for future analysis, and may be blocked based on current or past analysis of the messages. The device may serve as a VPN client and securely communicate with a VPN server using the host Internet connection.

Power storage adapter with power cable validation

A variable power bus (VPB) cable, such as a USB Type-C cable, is validated for actual current capacity with respect to a specified power rating for the cable. The power cable validation is performed when the cable is connected to a power storage adapter and a portable information handling system. The validation includes, prior to negotiating a power delivery contract for electrical power to be supplied to the information handling system from the VPB port via the VPB cable, applying a first voltage to the VPB cable to identify a first indication of a current capacity of the VPB cable; and when the first indication confirms that the current capacity of the VPB cable corresponds to a specified power rating for the VPB cable, enabling the power delivery contract to be negotiated according to the specified power rating, otherwise blocking the power delivery contract using the VPB cable.

The present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for acquiring device information, a storage medium and an electronic device, so as to ensure normal running of an application program in a computer system. The method is applied to a first terminal, an application program in the first terminal communicates with a peripheral in a second terminal through a device call interface. The method includes: determining, in response to reception of a device query request, a target peripheral in the first terminal according to a preset rule, where the device query request is used for querying device information of the peripheral in the second terminal; acquiring device information of the target peripheral; and sending the device information of the target peripheral to the application program.

Technologies for fast MAUSB enumeration

Technologies for improving enumeration of universal serial bus (USB) devices over a media agnostic USB (MAUSB) connection are disclosed. In the illustrative embodiment, an MAUSB device may send USB configuration data to a host compute device. The host compute device may then perform a virtual enumeration of the USB devices based on the USB configuration data without necessarily communicating with the USB devices. The MAUSB device may perform an enumeration of the USB devices on behalf of the host compute devices without necessarily communicating with the host compute device. The USB devices may not be aware or have any indication that the USB device is not communicating with the host compute device during the enumeration process. Such an approach may improve the latency of USB enumeration over an MAUSB connection.

Providing communication services using sets of I/O user devices

A user terminal emulation server maintains a database identifying network addresses, UI capabilities, and communication protocols of I/O user devices. Communication sessions are established between a user terminal emulation application and a network entity and I/O user devices proximately located to a user and provide a combined I/O user interface. Delay profiles are determined between the application and the I/O user devices. A downlink flow from the network entity is split into a plurality of downlink flow components assigned to the I/O user devices. For each of the downlink flow components, the server formats the component for transmission to the assigned I/O user device, initiates transmission of the formatted downlink flow component to the assigned I/O user device, and controls timing for when the formatted downlink flow component is transmitted to the assigned I/O user device based on the delay profile associated with the assigned I/O user device.

Emulating a local storage by accessing an external storage through a shared port of a NIC

Some embodiments provide a method of providing distributed storage services to a host computer from a network interface card (NIC) of the host computer. At the NIC, the method accesses a set of one or more external storages operating outside of the host computer through a shared port of the NIC that is not only used to access the set of external storages but also for forwarding packets not related to an external storage. In some embodiments, the method accesses the external storage set by using a network fabric storage driver that employs a network fabric storage protocol to access the external storage set. The method presents the external storage as a local storage of the host computer to a set of programs executing on the host computer. In some embodiments, the method presents the local storage by using a storage emulation layer on the NIC to create a local storage construct that presents the set of external storages as a local storage of the host computer.

Expander I/O module discovery and management system

An expander I/O module discovery/management system includes a secondary system chassis housing an expander I/O module coupled to a server device. The server device identifies the secondary system chassis and an expander I/O module port utilized by that server device, and then generates and transmits an expander I/O module reporting communication identifying the secondary system chassis and the expander I/O module port. A primary system chassis houses a switching I/O module coupled to the expander I/O module. The switching I/O module receives the expander I/O module reporting communication and determines that the secondary system chassis identified in the expander I/O module reporting communication is different than the primary system chassis. In response, the switching I/O module assigns a virtual slot to the expander I/O module, and assigns a virtual port associated with the virtual slot to the expander I/O module port identified in the expander I/O module reporting communication.
