An interactive video distribution system and video player are described. A client server arrangement may be used for providing a video player and video content to a client device. The video player may display navigation images enabling navigation to specific portions of the video content by activating a corresponding navigation image. The video player may also enable the sharing of a segment of the video with other video players, enabling the video players to play the streamed segment of the video without having to play the entire video, thereby reducing network bandwidth usage. The video player may be embeddable. The server may associate searchable tags with respective video segments.

Methods and systems for calculating, storing, and allowing electronic searches for metadata associated with media titles. The metadata includes scores specific to each actor and each genre of a media title, where the scores indicate the degree to which an actor’s performance in that title corresponds to a particular genre. Electronic searches for particular actors’ performance in a specific genre thus return more accurate results that more correctly reflect how well the actors’ performances reflect that genre.
Compressed content object and action detection
Various embodiments of a framework which allow, as an alternative to resource-taxing decompression, efficient computation of feature maps using a compressed content data subset, such as video, by exploiting the motion information, such as a motion vector, present in the compressed video. This framework allows frame-specific object recognition and action detection algorithms to be applied to compressed video and other media files by executing only on I-frames in a Group of Pictures and linearly interpolating the results. Training and machine learning increases recognition accuracy. Yielding significant computational gains, this approach accelerates frame-wise feature extraction I-frame/P-frame/P-frame videos as well as I-frame/P-frame/B-frame videos. The present techniques may also be used for segmentation to identify and label respective regions for objects in a video.

The method for searching a video includes constructing a video DB by analyzing continuity of a tag given to an appearing object and extracting section information about the tag, and detecting video information. A media guidance application is configured to retrieve a first record of a first plurality of user inputs, including input type, received during consumption of a media asset. A second time interval, prior to the first time interval, is selected by shifting the first start time and the first end time. A second record of a second plurality of user inputs received during the second time interval, including input type, is retrieved. A first media asset consumed during the first time interval and a second media asset consumed during the second time interval are determined, and the level of user engagement for the first media asset is determined based on the first record and the second record.

A method, apparatus and storage medium for implementing a discrete frame-based scene section are disclosed. The method comprises: obtaining at least one first tag for mapping a discrete frame to a scene section; for any second tag in the at least one first tag, performing polling query on to-be-processed first discrete frames respectively to determine whether there is a second discrete frame matched with the second tag in the first discrete frames; if there is the second discrete frame, marking the second discrete frame with the second tag corresponding to a scene section; if the polling query corresponding to the second tag ends, storing start frame timestamp information and end frame timestamp information of the scene section.

The method includes: receiving a first input performed by a user on a target identifier, where the target identifier is associated with a first video file; and displaying a first scratchpad in response to the first input, where the first scratchpad is a scratchpad created based on content of the first video file, the first scratchpad includes at least one video identifier and at least one progress identifier, the video identifier is used to indicate a video clip in the first video file, and the progress identifier is used to indicate completion progress of an operation corresponding to the video clip.
Methods, devices, and systems for video segmentation and annotation
Methods, devices, and systems for segmenting and annotating videos for analysis are disclosed. A user identifies specific moments of the video that provide a teachable moment. A pre-context and a post-context portion of the video surrounding the identified moment are used to create a tile video. One or more tile videos are compiled in a user-defined order to generate a weave video with a specific focus or theme. The generated weave video is shared with one or more users and can be annotated to facilitate teaching and/or discussion.
