A data entry system comprises a processor configured to receive a first data entry, make a first determination whether the first data entry is a first character entry or a first chorded entry, select a first output based on the first determination, and transmit the first output. The processor is further configured to receive, after transmitting the first output, a second data entry; make a second determination whether the second data entry is a second character entry or a second chorded entry; select a second output based on the second determination; and transmit the second output. The first data entry is the first character entry and the second data entry is the second chorded entry, or the first data entry is the first chorded entry and the second data entry is the second character entry.

ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND OPERATION METHOD THEREOF

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes an input interface, a memory, and a processor operatively connected to the input interface and the memory. The memory includes instructions that, when are executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive a plurality of key inputs including a first key input, a second key input, and a third key input from a user through the input interface, to recognize whether the received plurality of key inputs correspond to a specified condition, and to determine a key value corresponding to at least one key input among the plurality of key inputs based on a result of learning a key input pattern of the user by using an artificial intelligence model, based on that the received plurality of key inputs correspond to the specified condition.

SWITCHABLE CONVERSION OF A STANDARD KEYBOARD TO A BRAILLE INTERFACE

Keyboards that are selectably configurable between a standard interface and a braille interface. In embodiments, the keyboard is equipped with six keys corresponding to six dots of a braille matrix, each of the keys equipped with a shape memory alloy spring or other mechanism to cause each of the keys to selectably extend above the keyboard plane. On activation, the six keys are extended and the remaining keys deactivated, to provide an easy to locate braille interface. On subsequent activation, the six keys are retracted and the keyboard is reverted to a standard interface. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

HAND INTERFACE DEVICE

A hand-wearable device outfitted with data interface electronics is provided. The device is secured to its user by means of a comfortable material integrated across the top of the hand. The device includes a central palm section containing complex three-dimensional geometry and modular features for adjustable structures to house switch sensors. These structures account for each fingertip's location and orientation relative to the rest of the user's hand. Features to accommodate the comfortable securing material are built into the device to ensure the device does not shift or move around relative to the user's hand while being worn and operated. Integrated switch sensor and various power and transistor-based electronics allow the device to function and communicate with other computers and like devices. The device is worn on the left, right, or both hands simultaneously to enable access to the maximum number of potential sensor commands for a user.

Method and device for reading, writing, and communication by deafblind users

A method and device for reading, writing, and communication by deafblind users is provided to enable such exemplary functions as word processing, text messaging, Internet access, and telephonic communication. By combining a chordic keyboard for user input with a self-scrolling Braille pad for reading Braille, embodiments of the invention enable the user's hands to stay in place on a user console rather than having to constantly switch back and forth between typing messages versus reading or checking for messages. This in turn enables duplex communication because the user can read or acknowledge incoming messages even while typing. It also reduces the dynamic complexity experienced in reading Braille because a body part used for reading Braille can remain constantly available for receiving messages simply by resting in place on the self-scrolling Braille pad without any swiping, thereby eliminating swiping gestures and the problem of timing them with the receipt of messages.

Restart control device and restart control method
11467847 · 2022-10-11 · ·

The disclosure provides a restart control device and a restart control method. The restart control device is disposed in an electronic device. The electronic device includes a keyboard and a restart button. At least one assigned key of a plurality of keys of the keyboard is set. The restart control device determines whether the at least one assigned key is pressed, and determines whether the restart button is pressed. When determining that the restart button is pressed and the at least one assigned key is pressed, the restart control device provides a restart control signal to cause the electronic device to perform a restart operation. The disclosure can prevent an unnecessary restart operation due to a single restart button being mistyped.

An input method usable by a terminal including a touch screen display, identifies first touch input locations on a touch screen. The first touch input locations comprise a predetermined number of concurrent multiple touches. A predetermined number of input buttons comprising a predetermined number of areas on the touch screen are associated with corresponding identified first touch input locations. A touch pattern is detected comprising a second touch input of one or more of the predetermined number of input buttons and an alphanumeric input corresponding to the detected touch pattern is processed.

Method of generating symbols from a chording keyboard

A method of generating symbols from a chording keyboard is described. A unique feature of this method is accepting a sequence of chords from the keyboard without either an intervening chord or a requirement that all keys be released between chords. Another unique feature is that the chord map is independent of chords before or after a particular chord, for a particular symbol. That is, a user need only memorize one chord for each symbol, and then may transition directly from exactly that chord to any other chord. There are no special transition requirements. The number of keys on a keyboard for this method may be 4 to 10, inclusive. Such a keyboard may be operated with one hand. Specific attributes of embodiments or chord tables are described.
