DISPLAY DEVICE AND SENSING SYSTEM INCLUDING THE SAME
A display device is disclosed that includes a plurality of pixels and a plurality of code pixels. The pixels include light-emitting elements, which display an image. The code pixels are disposed in the same layer as the pixels and are adjacent to a reference point disposed between the pixels. The code pixels include infrared light-emitting elements, which emit infrared light. At least one of the code pixels, disposed in a particular direction from the reference point, emit the infrared light to provide a code pattern having position information.

An integrated display and input device including a pixel array operative to provide a visually sensible output, at least one sensor operative to sense at least a position of at least one object with respect to the pixel array when the at least one object has at least a predetermined degree of propinquity to the pixel array and circuitry receiving an output from the at least one sensor and providing a non-imagewise input representing the position of the at least one object relative to the pixel array to utilization circuitry.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR GENERATING INPUT
Devices and methods are disclosed for generating input. In one implementation, a stylus is provided for generating writing input. The stylus includes an elongated body having a distal end, and a light source configured to project coherent light on an opposing surface adjacent the distal end. The stylus further includes at least one sensor configured to measure first reflections of the coherent light from the opposing surface while the distal end moves in contact with the opposing surface, and to measure second reflections of the coherent light from the opposing surface while the distal end moves above the opposing surface and out of contact with the opposing surface. The stylus also includes at least one processor configured to receive input from the at least one sensor and to enable determining three dimensional positions of the distal end based on the first reflections and the second reflections.
Smart pen and a display device using the same
A smart pen including: a body part; a nib part at an end of the body part; a code detection unit for receiving light reflected from a display panel and the nib part, wherein the light reflected from the display panel and the nib part is used to detect shape data for code patterns of the display panel; and a code processor for generating coordinate data based on the shape data and transmitting the coordinate data to a main processor for driving the display panel based on the coordinate data.

An information processing device includes: an acquisition unit and an association unit. The acquisition unit acquires first information, generated by processing a detection result which is output from a first sensor provided outside an electronic writing instrument, which includes a trajectory traced by the electronic writing instrument in writing of an object on a display image and second information, generated by processing a detection result which is output from a second sensor provided in the electronic writing instrument to detect a movement of the electronic writing instrument, which includes a trajectory traced by the electronic writing instrument in writing of the object on the display image. The association unit associates the object with the electronic writing instrument using the first information and the second information.

In an information processing apparatus (10a), a light emission control unit (34a) turns on IR LEDs (13) (light emission units) included in electronic pens (12) (operation bodies) in which communication with the information processing apparatus (10a) is established and blinks the IR LEDs (13) included in the electronic pens at timings different from each other in a case where another electronic pen (12) approaches. Then, a light emission recognition unit (32) (detection unit) detects a position according to the IR LED (13) included in each of the electronic pens (12) in association with the electronic pen (12). An input/output control unit (36) (display control unit) displays information associated with the electronic pen (12) at a position corresponding to the IR LED (13) detected by the light emission recognition unit in a case where the electronic pen (12) is in an information input state.
METHOD OF CONTROLLING PROJECTOR AND PROJECTOR
A method of controlling a projector includes projecting an achromatic area image representing a drawing area in which the projector receives drawing using a pointer on a projection surface at a first luminance at a ratio on the projection surface, the ratio being smaller than or equal to a specific ratio to a maximum luminance at which the projector capable of project an image on the projection surface, detecting a position on the projection surface pointed by the pointer while projecting the area image, determining whether or not the position is included in the drawing area, and displaying, by the projector, an area including at least a part of an outline of the drawing area at a luminance higher than the first luminance when it is determined that the position is included in the drawing area.

A method of controlling a display device includes the steps of displaying a first image in a first size on a display surface, displaying the first image and a second image which has the first size and is different from the first image on the display surface when an operation of changing a size of the first image is started, displaying the first image in the first size on the display surface when the operation continues, displaying the second image in a size different from the first size on the display surface based on the operation when the operation continues, and displaying the first image in a second size based on the operation on the display surface when the operation terminates.
WRITING INSTRUMENT
A writing instrument configured to provide tactile feedback to a user, comprising an elongate body portion enabling a user to grip the writing instrument, wherein the body portion comprises a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end comprising a source of infra-red radiation to illuminate, in use, an active region of a writing surface; and a controller configured to generate a control signal for controlling the source of infra-red radiation. The source of infra-red radiation, driven by the control signal, emits infra-red radiation having a spectral maximum in wavelength range capable of activating thermal bimorph polymer material, and wherein, in use, the proximal end of the writing instrument, when in contact with the active region of the writing surface transfers a tactile impulse generated by the active region of the writing surface to the user via the elongate body portion.
