An image processing apparatus includes a processor configured to: in response to a prior print instruction, impose multiple pieces of prior image data to a subset of multiple imposition regions of a continuous paper sheet that is enabled to be imposed with the prior image data in response to the prior print instruction; and in response to a subsequent print instruction, impose subsequent image data to an unplanned region that is not imposed with the prior image data, from among the imposition regions serving as targets of imposition after the prior print instruction.

The method additionally includes merging the at least one submitted print instruction with the at least one hot folder print instruction to create at least one merged print instruction, which is used to process the print job. An analysis unit analyzes whether or not each of the plurality of partial data divided by the division unit is suitable for compression at any of a plurality of stages of image processing in which feature of image changes. A compression unit compresses the partial data at the stage when the analysis unit analyzes that it is suitable for compression. A decompressing unit decompresses the partial data compressed by the compression unit at the stage when it is compressed. A processing execution unit executes processing at the stage of image processing on the partial data decompressed by the decompressing unit.
