EXITLESS TIMER ACCESS FOR VIRTUAL MACHINES
20180011733 · 2018-01-11 ·

A system and method of scheduling timer access includes a first physical processor with a first physical timer executing a first guest virtual machine. A hypervisor determines an interrupt time remaining before an interrupt is scheduled and determines the interrupt time is greater than a threshold time. Responsive to determining that the interrupt time is greater than the threshold time, the hypervisor designates a second physical processor as a control processor with a control timer and sends, to the second physical processor, an interval time, which is a specific time duration. The hypervisor grants, to the first guest virtual machine, access to the first physical timer. The second physical processor detects that the interval time expires. Responsive to detecting that the interval time expired, an inter-processor interrupt is sent from the second physical processor to the first physical processor, triggering the first guest virtual machine to exit to the hypervisor.

Resource monitor for monitoring long-standing computing resources

Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method, and/or computer program product embodiments for monitoring long-standing computing resources. An apparatus may operate by receiving a cloud monitoring notification, where the cloud monitoring notification may indicate an occurrence of a monitored condition. The apparatus may then operate by scanning a cluster computing system for resource having a client assigned resource identifier and a computing resource attribute based on a resource identifier scan parameter and a resource attribute scan parameter. The apparatus may further operate by generating a resource notification request based on the scanning of the cluster computing system and transmitting the resource notification request to a communications system to notify a user that the resource has a computing resource attribute that match the resource attribute scan parameter.

Efficient mechanism to perform auto retention locking of files ingested via distributed segment processing in deduplication backup servers

A command requesting creation of a backup file and issued by a client-side deduplication library is received. Upon creating the file, a first flag is set on the file indicating that the file should be automatically retention locked after a cooling off period has elapsed. During the cooling off period, a command requesting that the file be opened for writes is received. The first flag is cleared to exclude the file from being automatically retention locked after the cooling off period has elapsed. A second flag is set on the file indicating that writes to the file are in progress. A command requesting that the file be closed, the writes to the backup file thereby being complete, is received. The second flag is cleared. The first flag is reset to allow the file to be automatically retention locked after the cooling off period has elapsed.

Alert notification on streaming textual data

In a computer-implemented method for performing alert notification on streaming textual data, streaming textual data is received. A plurality of copies of the streaming textual data is generated, wherein a first copy of the streaming textual data is transmitted to an ingestion service for persistent storage at a data plane and a second copy of the streaming textual data is transmitted to an alert evaluation service for performing alert evaluation on the streaming textual data, such that the ingestion service and the alert evaluation service are performed independently. The streaming textual data is evaluated by the alert evaluation service to detect an alert. Responsive to detecting an alert at the alert evaluation service, a notification of the alert is generated.

Infrastructure adaptive consistency level mechanism

A system to facilitate infrastructure management is described. The system includes one or more processors and a non-transitory machine-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to execute an infrastructure management controller to receive first monitoring data indicating a first infrastructure condition occurring at an on-premise infrastructure controller, determine a first load state of the on-premise infrastructure controller based on the first infrastructure condition and adjust a consistency level of the on-premise infrastructure controller to a first level of the consistency based on the first state.

Adaptive resource provisioning for a multi-tenant distributed event data store
11531570 · 2022-12-20 · ·

Systems and methods for adaptively provisioning a distributed event data store of a multi-tenant architecture are provided. According to one embodiment, a managed security service provider (MSSP) maintains a distributed event data store on behalf of each tenant of the MSSP. For each tenant, the MSSP periodically determines a provisioning status for a current active partition of the distributed event data store of the tenant. Further, when the determining indicates an under-provisioning condition exits, the MSSP dynamically increases number of resource provision units (RPUs) to be used for a new partition to be added to the partitions for the tenant by a first adjustment ratio. While, when the determining indicates an over-provisioning condition exists, the MSSP dynamically decreases the number of RPUs to be used for subsequent partitions added to the partitions for the tenant by a second adjustment ratio.

Method, apparatus and computer storage medium for data synchronization

Techniques provide for data synchronization. For example, such a technique may involve: obtaining respective synchronization characteristics of a group of synchronization jobs to be processed, each synchronization characteristic indicating at least one of an expected completion time instant and an amount of data to be synchronized of a corresponding synchronization job; prioritizing the group of the synchronization jobs based on the synchronization characteristics; and controlling execution of the group of the synchronization jobs based on a result of the prioritizing. Accordingly, high priority is given to the synchronization jobs which can be rapidly completed thereby improving the Recovery Point Objective (RPO) achievement rate before occurrence of a failure.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING AND PREDICTING VIRTUAL CPU RESOURCE STARVATION OF A VIRTUAL MACHINE

Described embodiments provide systems and detecting and predicting virtual CPU resource starvation of a virtual machine. One or more processors can determine, within a time period, a count of a number of delays in occurrences of a timer interrupt scheduled for a virtual processor of a virtual machine executing an application. The one or more processors can compare the count of the number of delays with a threshold established for the time period. The one or more processors can execute a process to migrate the application to a second one or more processors based at least on the comparison of the count of the number of delays with the threshold.

COMPUTER PROCESSING UNIT INTRA-FRAME CLOCK AND VOLTAGE SCALING BASED ON GRAPHICS APPLICATION AWARENESS
20230118950 · 2023-04-20 ·

Computer processing unit intra-frame clock and voltage scaling based on graphics application awareness is disclosed. The computer processing unit includes a processor configured to execute a graphics application to generate a graphics image for output to a display. The computer processing unit includes a power management circuit configured to perform clock and voltage scaling (CVS) (i.e., frequency and/or voltage scaling) for the processor. The power management circuit is configured to identify a graphics application dispatched to be executed or being executed by the processor and to set the operating point for the processor based on the identified graphics application. This may allow the processor to operate at a more optimal operating point for performance of graphics and non-graphics applications as opposed to operating each application at a lower operating point due to a graphics application that is more current intensive.
