A digital printing process for printing an image (I) including a white area (W) and/or a coloured area (C) on a packaging material includes selecting a packaging material with a substantially white side, and preparing print data to be sent to a printing means taking into account that the side of the packaging material is substantially white. The print data represents one or more first image areas (A1) representing the image (I), and one or more second image areas (A2) representing a packaging look (L), to be printed on the substantially white side of the packaging material, outside the one or more first image areas (A1) where the image (I) is to be located. The method further includes printing by the printing means on the substantially white side of the packaging material using the print data.

A printing system includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry acquires print data of a plurality of pages and extracts comparison data from the print data for each page. The processing circuitry, from first image data read from a printed material on which the print data is printed, acquires second image data at a position corresponding to the comparison data, for each page of the printed material. The processing circuitry outputs a comparison result of the comparison data and the read image data for each page.

The present invention relates to an apparatus for calibrated testing of a printing of an article. The apparatus includes a data providing device adapted to provide printing data for the article from product data of the article and a camera device adapted to capture an image of an article printed by a printing process and to provide it as image data. The apparatus also includes a database device adapted to provide calibration data for the camera device and a computer device adapted to perform a quality check of the printing process based on a comparison of the printing data with the image data taking into account the calibration data.

An object is to enable highly accurate density unevenness correction while suppressing a reduction in productivity of printing accompanying correction value calculation for density unevenness correction. In the image processing apparatus, density correction information that specifies an output tone value for implementing a target density for an input tone value for each nozzle and which does not include the influence by a non-ejectable nozzle that cannot eject ink normally is acquired. The printing apparatus further receives the received sheet candidates, displays the received sheet candidates, selects sheet information from the displayed sheet candidates, and sets the second attribute information of a selected sheet as attribute information of a sheet to be stored.
