An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on an image bearing member based on an image forming condition; a transfer unit configured to transfer the image formed on the image bearing member onto a sheet; a first reading sensor configured to read a first image for adjustment which has been formed on the sheet; a second reading sensor configured to read a second image for adjustment which has been formed on the image bearing member; and a controller configured to: generate the image forming condition based on reading results of the first image for adjustment on a plurality of sheets, which are obtained by the first reading sensor; and generate the image forming condition based on a reading result of the second image for adjustment, which is obtained by the second reading sensor.

Selective assignment of print data to calibration tables in accordance with substrate advancement skew

Print data is organized over rows and columns. The columns of each row are selectively assigned to calibration tables respectively corresponding to printheads of a pagewide array in accordance with a substrate advancement skew relative to the pagewide array. The calibration tables are applied to the columns of each row respectively assigned to the calibration tables. The columns of each row to which the calibration tables have been applied are printed using the printheads respectively corresponding to the calibration tables.

Methods and systems for creating a security mark for a document. A first generation print can be rendered based on one or more patterns (e.g., pantograph pattern) for a security mark. Post-copy results of the pattern(s) can be then rendered. The first generation print and the post-copy results of the pattern(s) can be calibrated, and the output of the calibration of the first generation print and the post-copy results are then applicable for optimizing the design of the security mark for a print condition. Optimization of the design of the security mark for the print condition can be implemented by applying the output of the calibrating of the first generation print and the post-copy results for the print condition. The first generation prints and post-copy results of pantograph pattern samples can be calibrated to drastically reduce the time and labor involved in optimizing void pantograph designs for a particular print condition.
