A printer system associated with the package handling device generates and prints on-the-fly a plurality of different, unique, individual scannable QR codes. Each QR code indicates the weight of the product in the package as indicated by a weighing system and/or indicates the ingredients of the product in each package as indicated by a ingredients device.

A printing apparatus to print a character in conjunction with a tape cassette is provided. The tape cassette includes a tape and a first memory device to store character data. The printing apparatus includes an attachable section, a second memory device, a controller, and a printer. The controller reads specific character data that satisfies a predetermined condition from the first memory device in the tape cassette, stores the specific character data in the second memory device as in-apparatus stored data, and appoints print-object data being the character data corresponding to an object character, which is the character appointed as a print object, from the in-apparatus stored data in the second memory device. The printer prints the object character on the tape in the tape cassette based on the appointed print-object data.

Embodiments herein describe RIP allocation schemes that consider a number of factors during page scheduling to improve the performance of a print controller. One embodiment comprises an apparatus that includes a plurality of RIPs collectively comprising a total number of RIPs that process logical pages. The apparatus further includes a scheduler. The scheduler receives a print job, determines that a number of available RIPs of the plurality of RIPs to process logical pages in the print job is less than the total number of RIPs, and to iteratively increase a number of the logical pages in the print job that are assigned to each of the available RIPs as the number of available RIPs increases over time.

An apparatus and method for formatting a label are provided. An example method includes receiving data, a first portion of the data being encoded in a first encoding scheme; defining, via a processor, a first field block based on first text layout information received in association with a first field block command, the first field block for rendering text on a label; and formatting, via the processor, the first portion of the data within the first field block according to a first text display direction received in association with a first field parameter command.
