20170293781 · 2017-10-12 ·

According to one embodiment, a wireless tag communication apparatus includes a plurality of communication units configured to communicate with a wireless tag. The communication units are disposed such that communicable ranges of the communication units overlap each other. A control unit controls each of the plurality of communication units to alternate between a communication state and a pause state. When the wireless tag is positioned within communication ranges of both first and second communication units of the plurality of communication units, the control unit controls the first communication unit to be in the communication state and the second communication unit to be in the pause state.

An inventory system for objects contained in a space bounded by an enclosure, said system including a tag fixed to each of the objects to be inventoried and a reading point provided with at least one antenna for emitting a wakeup electromagnetic wave confined inside said enclosure so that a tag, on receiving same, becomes active and then emits its identification data intended for said reading point, wherein the system includes means for controlling the emission power of said wakeup electromagnetic wave in accordance with a power-variation model defined by a series of emissions by said or each antenna in stages at power levels different from one stage to another in order to carry out said inventory. The present invention also relates to an inventory method implemented by such an inventory system.

Method and System for Reading/Writing Data From/On RFID Tags Integrated/Applied In/On Tires Conveyed on Conveyor Belts

A system and method is provided for reading and/or writing data from/on RFID tags of tires conveyed on a conveyor belt in a conveyance direction, wherein each tire is fitted with a respective RFID tag storing a univocal identifier of said tire. An antenna is installed over or nearby the conveyor belt and configured to radiate RF signals toward a footprint area on the conveyor belt and receive backscattered RF signals from said footprint area. A reader is connected to the antenna to operate the latter in transmission and reception. A preliminary calibration step is applied to the reader and a reading and/or writing step is carried out by operating the calibrated reader.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTEXT-BASED CREDIT CARD READER POWER MANAGEMENT

An apparatus for context-based credit card reader management is provided that includes a point-of sale (POS) terminal, configured to accept employee login credentials via a magnetic stripe card, to display menu items for selection, to add selected menu items to an order, and to accept payment for the order, where the payment may be obtained via swipe, dip, or tap. The POS terminal has a card reader and a reader controller. The card reader reads provided cards when fully powered and enabled. The reader controller is coupled to the card reader, and determines one or more workflow states of the POS terminal, and dynamically controls power states of the card reader according to the one or more workflow states.

A machine and process for providing consumer products may include a set of positions configured to contain consumer products or containers in which ingredients are used to form consumer products. The consumer products or containers may include radiofrequency identification (RFID) tags. A set of antennas, where at least one antenna is disposed at each position, may be configured to output and receive RF signals. A transceiver may be in electrical communication with the antennas, and be configured to generate the RF signals. A processor may be in communication with the transceiver, and be programmed to (i) receive RFID signals from the RFID tags at the set of positions, and (ii) identify locations of the RFID tags to determine that corresponding consumer products or containers of ingredients are in correct positions.

Noncontact communication medium, magnetic tape cartridge, operation method of noncontact communication medium, and storage medium

A noncontact communication medium includes a coil and a processor mounted on a magnetic tape cartridge. The processor communicates with a communicatee by coupling between the coil and the communicatee by electromagnetic induction through an external magnetic field applied from the communicatee. The communicatee merges a command into the external magnetic field. The processor executes processing corresponding to the command merged into the external magnetic field. The processor changes a response time of the processor in response to the command, according to a characteristic of at least one of the magnetic tape cartridge, the noncontact communication medium, or the communicatee.

WIRELESS TAG PROCESSING DEVICE CONFIGURED TO SELECT FROM LISTS A PARAMETER VALUE TO BE USED TO COMMUNICATE WITH A WIRELESS TAG
20210406634 · 2021-12-30 ·

A wireless tag processing device includes a wireless tag reader-writer and a processor configured to acquire first and second sets of parameter values, control the reader-writer to transmit a radio wave using each parameter value of the first set and acquire a first intensity of a response wave from a wireless tag, when a highest first intensity satisfies a first condition, determine a parameter value of the first set corresponding to the highest intensity as a parameter value to be used by the reader-writer, and when the highest intensity does not satisfy the condition, control the reader-writer to transmit a radio wave using each parameter value of the second set and acquire a second intensity, and when a highest second intensity satisfies a second condition, determine a parameter value of the second set corresponding to the highest second intensity as the parameter value to be used by the reader-writer.

DEVICE AND/OR METHOD FOR ADAPTIVE COMPUTATION

Disclosed are methods, systems and devices for varying operations of a transponder device based, at least in part, on an availability of energy and/or power that may be harvested and/or collected. In one particular implementation, operations to generate one or more signals from sensor circuitry and/or to perform computations may be varied based, at least in part, on an availability of harvestable and/or collectable energy and/or power.

RFID tags enforcing persistence while powered
11200387 · 2021-12-14 · ·

RFID tags may compensate for non-RFID power sources by automatically enforcing data or state persistence even while powered. A tag may measure a time interval between successive detected modulated reader transmissions. If the interval exceeds a minimum time, then the tag may deassert a protocol flag, erase data, and/or change tag operating states, even if the tag would normally not perform these actions while powered.

Protocol for allocation of power signal

Disclosed are methods, systems and devices for allocating a power signal. In one particular implementation, a reader device may exchange messages with one more transponder devices to determine an allocation of a power signal. For example, one or more transponder devices may provide one or more messages in a downlink signal indicative of a requested signal up time.
