Medicament delivery devices
09849256 · 2017-12-26 · ·

A medicament delivery device (1) comprises an actuation mechanism by successive operation of which a predetermined number of unit doses of medicament can be dispensed. The device includes a locking mechanism for preventing further operation of the actuation mechanism after dispensing of said predetermined number of unit doses. The locking mechanism comprises a resilient member (51), a formation (18) with which the resilient member (51) is engageable to disable operation of the actuation mechanism, and a barrier member (20) that prevents engagement of the resilient member (51) and the formation (18) until said predetermined number of unit doses has been dispensed. The device (1) may be a dry powder inhaler.

Improvements in counting devices

A counting device for counting mechanical inputs comprising: a rotatably mounted first counting wheel arranged to rotate by a predetermined amount for every input that is to be counted; and, a second counting wheel in mechanical communication with the first counting wheel, and at least in part overlapping the first counting wheel, wherein the second counting wheel and/or the first counting wheel are at least in part transparent; whereby the mechanical communication between the first counting wheel and the second counting wheel comprises a rotation mechanism configured to drive the second counting wheel a predetermined amount when a predetermined number of inputs has been reached. Dose counter for inhaler having an anti-reverse rotation actuator

An inhaler includes a main body having a canister housing, a medicament canister retained in a central outlet port of the canister housing, and a dose counter having an actuation member for operation by movement of the medicament canister. The canister housing has an inner wall, and a first inner wall canister support formation extending inwardly from a main surface of the inner wall. The canister housing has a longitudinal axis X which passes through the center of the central outlet port. The first inner wall canister support formation, the actuation member, and the central outlet port lie in a common plane coincident with the longitudinal axis X such that the first inner wall canister support formation protects against unwanted actuation of the dose counter by reducing rocking of the medicament canister relative to the main body of the inhaler.

DISPENSING DEVICE

A device for dispensing individual doses of powder from respective pockets of a disc-shaped carrier by outwardly rupturing a lidding foil by means of pressure on an opposite side surface, the device providing individual respective deaggregation flow paths for each pocket, split airstreams allowing improved entrainment of powder, a cam mechanism for outwardly rupturing the pockets, an indexing mechanism linked to the cam mechanism and a dose counter.

Handheld device for dispensing of a pharmaceutical substance and counter for such handheld device

A handheld device for dispensing a pharmaceutical substance has a housing in which a storage container with the pharmaceutical substance and a counter are arranged. The storage container dispenses the pharmaceutical substance by pressure actuation by a user after a specified displacement path has been traversed, and the counter carries out an action in order to rotate a counter wheel of the counter on the basis of the displacement path being traversed. The counter additionally has a drive part rotates the counter wheel, and the counter wheel is rotatably attached to a mounting part. The mounting part is formed independently of the housing, and the drive part is directly attached to the mounting part. The handheld device advantageously dispenses a pharmaceutical substance in that the action is first carried out on the counter wheel of the counter upon the pressure actuation, and the pharmaceutical substance is then dispensed.

Finger-mounted mechanical counter

The finger-mounted mechanical counter is a numerical counter that may be worn on the finger of a user. First, second and third wheels each have a set of indicia formed thereon, each set of indicia being a circumferentially arrayed set of integers, such as a continuous range from 0 to 9. The first, second and third wheels are rotatably mounted within a housing having corresponding first, second and third slots formed therein for display of the corresponding indicia. The housing defines a central passage which is adapted for receiving the finger of the user. After a full rotation of the first wheel, the second wheel is rotated by a single increment, and after full rotation of the second wheel, the third wheel is rotated by a single increment, allowing for consecutive counting from single digits to double digits to triple digits.

The invention describes a novel method of transducing a force input into a perpendicularly directed advance of a geared component. This simple mechanism allows for the implementation of latches, accelerometers, tilt sensors, and counters that are uniquely inexpensive, robust, compact, and easy to implement, since they are able to rely on purely mechanical operation.
