Allocating cache memory in a dispersed storage network

A method for execution by a dispersed storage network (DSN) managing unit includes receiving access information from a plurality of distributed storage and task (DST) processing units via a network. Cache memory utilization data is generated based on the access information. Configuration instructions are generated for transmission via the network to the plurality of DST processing units based on the cache memory utilization data.

Systems and methods for scoring and visualizing the effects of variants in biological sequences. Variants may include substitutions, insertions and deletions. The method comprises encoding biological sequences as vector sequences and then operating a neural network in the forward-propagation mode and possibly in the back-propagation mode to compute variant scores. Variant scores are determined by normalizing the gradients. Variant scores may be used to select a subset of variants, which are then used to produce modified vector sequences which are analyzed by the neural network operating in forward-propagation mode, to determine improved variant scores. The variant scores may be visualized using black and white, greyscale or colored elements that are arranged in blocks with dimensions corresponding to different possible symbols and the length of the sequence. These blocks are aligned with the biological sequence, which is illustrated by a symbol sequence arranged in a line.

Blockchain network based on machine learning-based proof of work

Systems and techniques are disclosed for a blockchain network based on machine learning-based proof of work. One of the methods includes accessing a blockchain associated with a blockchain network, and obtaining a first error value specified in a block of the blockchain, the first error value being associated with a machine learning model identified in the block, and the blockchain recording machine learning models. A new machine learning model associated with a second error value is determined, with the second error value being less than the first error value. A block proposal identifying the new machine learning model is generated, the block proposal specifying the first error value. Transmission of the block proposal to other entities is caused. In response to greater than a threshold percentage of the entities approving the block proposal, inclusion of the block proposal in the blockchain is caused.

One example method includes encoding data as a polysaccharide structure, synthesizing the polysaccharide structure to create polysaccharide storage media that comprises the data, and storing the polysaccharide storage media. The example method may also include receiving a read request directed to the polysaccharide storage media, mapping the polysaccharide structure to create a map in response to the read request, traversing the map of the polysaccharide structure to determine an X-base number, and obtaining the data by converting the X-base number to a binary form.

Nucleic acid security and authentication

Methods and systems for security, authentication, tagging, and tracking using nucleic acid (e.g., deoxyribonucleic acid) molecules encoding information. Unique nucleic acid molecules are efficiently produced from pre-fabricated fragments to quickly produce libraries of nucleic acid molecules encoding encrypted or randomized information. Physical objects or artifacts can be tagged with libraries to authenticate the objects, grant access to secured assets or locations, or track the objects or entities. Chemical methods can be applied to verify authenticity, decrypt, or decode information stored in the libraries.

Sequence-controlled polymer random access memory storage

Methods for controlled segregation of blocks of information encoded in the sequence of a biopolymer, such as nucleic acids and polypeptides, with rapid retrieval based on multiply addressing nanostructured data have been developed. In some embodiments, sequence controlled polymer memory objects include data-encoded biopolymers of any length or form encapsulated by natural or synthetic polymers and including one or more address tags. The sequence address labels are used to associate or select memory objects for sequencing read-out, enabling organization and access of distinct memory objects or subsets of memory objects using Boolean logic. In some embodiments, a memory object is a single-stranded nucleic acid scaffold strand encoding bit stream information that is folded into a nucleic acid nanostructure of arbitrary geometry, including one or more sequence address labels. Methods for controlled degradation of biopolymer-encoded blocks of information in the memory objects are also developed.
