An apparatus and method for a power-efficient framework to maintain data synchronization of a mobile personal computer (MPC) are described. In one embodiment, the method includes the detection of a data synchronization wakeup event while the MPC is operating according to a sleep state. Subsequent to wakeup event, at least one system resource is disabled to provide a minimum number of system resources required to re-establish a network connection. In one embodiment, user data from a network server is synchronized on the MPC without user intervention; the mobile platform system resumes operation according to the sleep state. In one embodiment, a wakeup alarm is programmed according to a user history profile regarding received e-mails. In a further embodiment, data synchronizing involves disabling a display, and throttling the system processor to operate at a reduced frequency. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

On a portable electronic device having a display a plurality of affordances associated with a plurality of contacts are displayed. A first user input is received selecting a first affordance of the plurality of affordances for a first contact of the plurality of contacts. In response to receiving the first user input and in accordance with a determination that a first communication application is in a set of communication applications installed on the portable electronic device, a contact information interface is displayed for the first contact. The contact information interface includes a first contact identification field for the first contact. The first contact identification field is associated with the first contact and the first communication application.

A computer-implemented method comprises, obtaining a digital calendar item for an event, determining, that the event has begun, and in response to determining that the event has begun, accessing a location and determining which of the participants are present for the event, determining, during the event, that one participant shared a digital data item with the other participants or as part of the event, and in response to determining that the participant shared the digital data item, at least transiently storing a reference or link to the digital data item, determining that the event has ended, and in response to determining that the event has ended, updating the digital calendar item by adding the reference or link.
Automatically detecting and storing digital data items associated with digital calendar items
A computer-implemented method comprises, obtaining a digital calendar item for an event, determining, that the event has begun, and in response to determining that the event has begun, accessing a location and determining which of the participants are present for the event, determining, during the event, that one participant shared a digital data item with the other participants or as part of the event, and in response to determining that the participant shared the digital data item, at least transiently storing a reference or link to the digital data item, determining that the event has ended, and in response to determining that the event has ended, updating the digital calendar item by adding the reference or link.
Word attribution prediction from subject data
A digital attribution system is described to generate predictions of word attributions from subject data, e.g., titles, subject lines of emails, and so on. To do so, an attribution score is first generated by the digital attribution system that describe an amount to which respective words in the subject data cause performance of a corresponding outcome. The attribution scores are then used by the digital attribution system to generate representations for display in a user interface for respective words in the subject data and may also be used to generate attribution recommendations of changes to be made to the subject data.
Anti-cyberbullying systems and methods
Some embodiments use text and/or image processing methods to determine whether a user of an electronic messaging platform is subject to an online threat such as cyberbullying, sexual grooming, and identity theft, among others. In some embodiments, a text content of electronic messages is automatically harvested and aggregated into conversations. Conversation data are then analyzed to extract various threat indicators. A result of a text analysis may be combined with a result of an analysis of an image transmitted as part of the respective conversation. When a threat is detected, some embodiments automatically send a notification to a third party (e.g., parent, teacher, etc.)

A computer-implemented, network-connected content recommender generating content recommendations for a plurality of content servers hosted by one or more customers, the content recommender comprising: one or more processors; a memory storing instruction that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the recommender to perform operations comprising: receiving a plurality of content recommendation requests from a querying one of said customer content servers via a plurality of input streams, each input stream including a data repository; outputting data, from the memory, associated with the content recommendation requests; receiving some or all of the data associated with said content recommendation requests; generating a first model-specific recommendation result from a first set of the plurality of received data; generating a second model-specific recommendation result from a second set of the plurality of received data; combining the first model-specific recommendation results with the second model-specific results to generate an ensemble recommendation result; and transmitting the ensemble result from the content recommender to said querying customer content server.
