Digital transaction apparatus including a Data Assistance Device (DAD), including a user interface that is operable to at least select data, and a DAD transmitter, a Digital Transaction Card (DTC), including a Digital Transaction Processing Unit (DTPU), and a DTC receiver, wherein the DAD and DTC are operable to transfer data from the DAD to the DTC and when subsequently using the DTC to effect a digital transaction, the DTC operates in accordance with the data selected and transferred from the DAD to the DTC, wherein the digital transaction apparatus further includes a remaining battery life estimation system operable to detect an occurrence of at least one electrical event and to measure the duration of the at least one electrical event, each electrical event having an associated power usage amount, and, subsequent to detection of an occurrence of an at least one electrical event, the remaining battery life estimation system calculates the total energy usage using the associated power usage amount in respect of the at least one electrical event and the duration of the at least one electrical event.

INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS

An information processing apparatus includes: a body having a top configured to allow a touch panel to be disposed thereon; and an input auxiliary device. The input auxiliary device includes: a frame including a first holding piece and a second holding piece configured to hold one side and another side of the body, respectively, to mount the frame on the top; and a key unit attachable to a backside of the frame. The one side includes: a card slot; and a second underside extending along the top toward the another side between the top and the card slot. The first holding piece is configured to be locked to the second underside.

INTELLIGENT REAL TIME CARD ALERT SYSTEM TO DETECT SUSPICIOUS CONTACTLESS CARD READER
20230042425 · 2023-02-09 ·

Aspects of the disclosure relate to a smart contactless card to detect real-time suspicious card readers or other fraudulent devices. Prior to a transaction, the smart contactless card detects suspicious card readers or fraudulent devices. An alert may be generated upon detection of any suspicious or fraudulent card reader. In some arrangements, the smart contactless card may utilize machine learning models or machine learning capabilities to detect suspicious card readers. The smart contactless card may pair with other smart contactless cards to detect and alert users to suspicious card readers or other fraudulent devices. The paired smart contactless cards may share information regarding suspicious card readers or fraudulent devices over a semi-autonomous data-sharing network. A vulnerability score may be generated and used to determine if a card reader or other payment device is suspicious.

INDICATING FAILED CARD READING TO IDENTIFY DEFECTIVE TRANSACTION CARD AND/OR DEFECTIVE TRANSACTION TERMINAL

In some implementations, a point of sale (POS) system may store a card read failure indication based on detecting that a transaction terminal failed to read information associated with a transaction card, wherein the card read failure indication includes information that indicates whether the transaction terminal failed to read the information associated with the transaction card from a chip, a magnetic stripe, or a contactless device. The POS system may transmit information associated with the card read failure indication to an external device based on detecting a successful transaction subsequent to the transaction terminal failing to read the information associated with the transaction card, wherein the information associated with the card read failure indication is transmitted to enable the external device to determine whether one or more of the transaction card or the transaction terminal is defective.

Regaining frictionless status of shoppers

A method for addressing a shopper's eligibility for frictionless checkout may include identifying at least one shopper in a retail store designated as not eligible for frictionless checkout; in response to the identification of the at least one shopper designated as not eligible for frictionless checkout, automatically identifying an ineligibility condition associated with the at least one shopper's designation as not eligible for frictionless checkout; determining one or more actions for resolving the ineligibility condition; causing implementation of the one or more actions for resolving the ineligibility condition; receiving an indication of successful completion of the one or more actions; and in response to receipt of the indication of successful completion of the one more actions, generating a status indicator indicating that the at least one shopper is eligible for frictionless checkout and storing the generated status indicator in a memory.

Simulated contactless payment cards providing multiple temporary profiles and corresponding credentials

A bridge service is provided to support multi-user simulated contactless cards that in response to receiving a request to provision a secure element with payment card profile information of a user, provisions a token representing the payment card profile, converts the token representing the payment card profile into a format for the payment application; and provides the payment card profile to the payment application, the payment card profile comprising a single use key. The bridge service enables simulated contactless cards to store payment card information for a user on volatile memory instead of the persistent, secure element memory.

Authorizing a payment with a multi-function transaction card

A multi-function transaction card may include a card body having dimensions that are in accordance with a standard for transaction cards, an output device on the card body, and a secure element within the card body. The multi-function transaction card may pair, via a wireless connection, the multi-function transaction card with a terminal. The multi-function transaction card may receive, from the terminal, information associated with a transaction. The multi-function transaction card may generate, based on the information associated with the transaction, and using a cryptographic key, an authorization request cryptogram (ARQC), wherein the cryptographic key is stored in the secure element. The multi-function transaction card may generate, based on the ARQC, a machine-readable code. The multi-function transaction card may display, using the output device, the machine-readable code.
