According to an embodiment, an information processing apparatus includes an image interface, an input interface, a display interface, a manipulation interface, a storage unit, and a processor. The processor is configured to cause a display terminal through a display interface to display a screen so as to receive an input of a key through the manipulation interface; transmit an operation signal indicating the key to the one of external devices through the input interface; and when the key is a repeat key, transmit an operation signal for inputting a character string indicated by repeat information to the one of the external devices through the input interface.

According to an embodiment, the information processing apparatus includes an image interface, an input interface, a communication interface, and a processor. The image interface is configured to acquire a display screen image from an input device for inputting a character string included in a captured image in which recognition of the character string according to a first algorithm fails. The processor is configured to search for the captured image corresponding to the display screen image, acquire the character string based on a result of character recognition processing of the searched for captured image according to a second algorithm, and input the character string to the input device.

A document classification system uses an image file as a file of an image serving as a model for classifying a document to classify, by machine learning, an image read from a form as a document by a scanner of an image forming apparatus, and reports a classification failure image as an image of the document when the document is unsuccessfully classified.

A method and electronic device are provided for processing data. Analog text included in a document is detected. A first area of the analog text that converts to digital text and a second area of the analog text that does not convert to the digital text are determined. The digital text is displayed in the first area that converts to the digital text, and an image of at least a portion of the analog text is displayed in the second area that does not convert to digital text.

A computer-implemented technique includes techniques are presented for user image capture feedback for improved machine language translation. When machine language translation of OCR text obtained from an initial image has a low degree of likelihood of being an appropriate translation, these techniques provide for user image capture feedback to obtain additional images to obtain a modified OCR text, which can result in improved machine language translation results. Instead of user image capture feedback, the techniques may obtain the modified OCR text by selecting another possible OCR text from the initial OCR operation. In addition to additional image capturing, light source intensity and/or a quantity/number of light source flashes can be adjusted. After obtaining the modified OCR text, another machine language translation can be obtained and, if it has a high enough degree of likelihood, it can then be output to a user.

Certain text editing techniques are provided to enable the user to select a few characters or words from an original collection of text by a limited number of user inputs, such as by touching or swiping a character or word to be edited. Options for probable edits of the original text can be automatically presented to the user in a manner that also only requires a minimal number of user inputs. Such techniques may facilitate text editing that is easier and more convenient for users of portable electronic devices. These techniques may be particularly advantageous for enabling editing of text acquired from an optical character recognition (OCR) process on any computing device. Other text editing shortcuts and similar approaches are also described.

A document processing apparatus includes a processor configured to: display one or more documents stored in a specific document storage area on a first screen; display a first document selected on the first screen on a second screen that receives an operation for certain document processing; and in response to storage of a new document in the document storage area during execution of the document processing, display a second document which is the new document on the second screen without receiving selection of the second document on the first screen.
