In embodiments of systems and methods for enabling voting by a controlled-environment (e.g., correctional) facility resident (e.g., incarcerated individual), a controlled-environment facility management system, or the like, may determine federal, state and/or local laws and/or rules concerning the resident's legal right to vote and determine whether the resident is registered to vote in a jurisdiction in which the resident is deemed to reside, with respect to the resident's right to vote in the jurisdiction. In response to a determination that the resident is not registered to vote in that jurisdiction, the facility management system, or the like, may provide documents required for the resident to register to vote, to the resident, for completion and/or execution. The facility management system, or the like, may file, in the jurisdiction in which the resident is deemed to reside, resident-executed documents required for the resident to register to vote.

A ballot drop box adapted to collect voting ballots. The drop box is a shell having an interior and an exterior. A chute is used by the voter to deposit their ballot. Within the drop box is a scale which collects the deposited ballot from the chute. The scale determines if a single ballot has been deposited or multiple ballots. Based on this determination, the ballot(s) are sent to an “acceptable” bin within the box or to a “further investigation needed” bin. An alternative embodiment marks the she submitted ballot(s) allowing a later determination if the ballots have been “stuffed”.

The improved voting machine includes a housing upon which a plurality of voting canisters are disposed. Each of the plurality of voting canisters housing a plurality of voting balls placed along a track. A voting ball dispenser is mounted to the housing to store and dispense the plurality of voting balls. A selector incorporating a movable ball insertion device to receive one of the plurality of voting balls from the voting ball dispenser moves along the track to dispense the one of the plurality of voting balls into one of the plurality of voting canisters.
