Black box operations controlled by driver mental state evaluation
The disclosed embodiments are directed to adjusting the operational characteristics of a black box installed in a vehicle. In one embodiment a method is disclosed comprising classifying a mental state of a driver of an automobile, loading at least one setting based on the mental state, the setting defining an operational characteristic of a black box installed in the automobile, configuring the black box using the at least one setting, and recording one or more events by the black box.
Extended time scale event detection
A system for extended time scale event detection includes a data storage device and a processor. The data storage device is configured to store sensor data associated with a vehicle. The processor is configured to analyze an extended time period of the sensor data to identify minor events. The minor events are detected using a minor event threshold. The processor is further configured to determine whether there are more than a threshold number of the minor events and, in the event there are more than a threshold number of the minor events, flag the minor events.

Systems and methods for part identification
A system includes an ECM configured to control at least one subsystem of a machine, a plurality of sensors communicatively coupled to the ECM, the plurality of sensors configured to sense at least one identification device coupled to a fluid filter associated with the subsystem of the machine. A memory stories instructions that, when executed by the ECM, cause the ECM to cause a sensor of the plurality of sensors to sense the at least one identification device, receive a signal from the sensor based on the sensor sensing the at least one identification device, identify a coupling of the fluid filter to the machine based on the signal; and identify at least one physical characteristic of the fluid filter based on a code defined by electromagnetic energy generated by the at least one identification device. The code includes at least one component defining the at least one physical characteristic.
SYSTEM OF PRIVACY ORIENTED AUTOMATED ELECTRIC VEHICLE MILES TRAVELED USAGE FEE ASSESSMENT AND SETTLEMENT USING UTILITY SMART GRID COMMUNICATION NETWORK
Apparatuses and methods for the assessment of electric vehicle usage fees for electric and hybrid-electric vehicles usage of roadways and waypoints over publicly or privately funded thoroughfares are disclosed herein. Exemplary implementations address automated systems of assessing fees charged for roadway and waypoint usage as applied to vehicle mileage traveled over functionally classified thoroughfares, collection of usage charges, settlement of payments to jurisdictional authorities, and/or periodic reconciliation of vehicle mileage traveled. The implementations include electric vehicles with user interfaces that have selectable trust level inputs, systems to calculate and store position information, road classes and waypoints travelled, and vehicles and users information. In one implementation(s) the electric vehicle transmits the report through a local area network based on the selected trust level, to a remotely located receiver node.
CONTROL DEVICE, CONTROL SYSTEM, AND METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION
A control device mounted on a vehicle includes a designation data acquisition unit that acquires designation data from an external device of the vehicle, the designation data designating vehicle data that is subjected to collection processing, a designation data storage unit that stores the designation data, a vehicle data collection unit that executes the collection processing to collect the vehicle data designated by the designation data, from the vehicle, and a transmission control unit that transmits the vehicle data collected by the vehicle data collection unit, to the external device through a communication device.
Vehicle inspection device and vehicle inspection method
A vehicle inspection device includes an inspection processing section and a communication processing section. The inspection processing section includes an inspection control section that generates a first communication request or a second communication request based on an inspection program, a communication request transmission buffer that stores the first communication request, and a transmission buffer for high-speed communication that stores the second communication request. The communication processing section transmits the first communication request to an ECU to be inspected and transmits the second communication request to an ECU on which writing is to be performed.
