A vending machine system for loading and dispensing pre-baked unpackaged food including a fixed cartridge disposed in a refrigerator of a vending machine, and a transport cartridge adapted to removably attach to the fixed cartridge, the transport cartridge operable for holding trays of unpackaged food and loading the trays of unpackaged food from the transport cartridge into the fixed cartridge, wherein, when the transport cartridge is removably attached to the fixed cartridge, a front opening of the transport cartridge aligns with a front opening of the fixed cartridge, and wherein the rack of the transport cartridge aligns with the conveyor system of the fixed cartridge such that trays of unpackaged food within the transport cartridge can simultaneously be transitioned from the rack to the conveyor system.

The method can include loading one or more tubes comprising a frozen confectionary or a component of a frozen confectionary from a storage tray onto a serving station located in the dispensing machine; positioning the container in the serving station under the one or more tubes; dispensing the frozen confectionary or component of the frozen confectionary into the container; optionally placing a spoon into the container; and conveying the frozen confectionary product to an outlet located on the dispensing machine. A method of supplying a dispensing machine with frozen confectionaries and/or components of frozen confectionaries is also provided.

A vending machine may include a product compartment, a product storage system, a support structure, a dispensing port, and a product delivery system. The support structure may elevate the product compartment and form a void beneath the product compartment. Other structures may occupy the void beneath the product compartment, or humans may walk through the void beneath the product compartment. A product may be automatically moved from the product compartment to the dispensing port using the product delivery system.
