According to one embodiment, a registration device for a transaction processing system includes a communication interface connected to a plurality of settlement devices via a network. The plurality of settlement devices includes a first settlement device and a second settlement device. A processor of the registration device is configured to generate settlement information required for settlement of a merchandise transaction based on the registration of items in the merchandise transaction, and then transmit the settlement information to the first settlement device. If the transmission of the settlement information to the first settlement device fails, the processor records transaction specifying information on a medium that can be given to a customer. The transaction specifying information identifies the settlement information corresponding to the merchandise transaction. The processor also store the settlement information in a storage unit when the transmission to the first settlement device fails.

A cart includes a frame, a holding portion supported by the frame and in which a product is stored, a lifting unit configured to raise and lower the holding portion, an imaging device directed towards an inside of the holding portion, and a controller. The controller is configured to acquire an image of a product captured by the imaging device, determine whether the product has been continuously imaged by the imaging device over a predetermined time period, and upon determining that the product has been imaged over the predetermined time period, control the lifting unit to lower the holding portion.

There are provided systems and methods for a modular mobile point of sale device having separable units for configurable data processing. A modular device may include a main unit that includes data processing features to allow for a mobile point of sale, including a data entry unit for payment data, a communication component to secure communicate that data to a centralized transaction processor, and a processing unit to receive the data and instruct the centralized to process the data with an online service provider. The module device may also be physically and communicatively coupled to additional modules that may increase the on-device functionality of the main unit, include a module to allow user input and additional modules to accept other types of transaction input. On detection of a connected unit, the main unit may secure connect to and authenticate each attached module.

According to one embodiment, a reading device is a device for obtaining information for identifying a merchandise, and includes a housing, an imaging unit, a main illumination unit, and an auxiliary illumination unit. The housing includes a reading window having a property of transmitting light. The imaging unit is built in the housing and captures an image through the reading window. The main illumination unit illuminates an imaging target located on the opposite side of the imaging unit with the reading window interposed therebetween by emitting light outward the housing, and is arranged at the upper edge portion of the reading window. The auxiliary illumination unit illuminates the imaging target by emitting light outward the housing through the reading window, and is arranged inner side than the main illumination unit.

An electronic device has a display and a circuitry. The circuitry is configured to obtain location information of a specific item of multiple items located in an environment, wherein the location information of the specific item is obtained based on a correlation between location tracking information of electronic devices moving in the environment and item list data representing items of the multiple items being purchased by users of the electronic devices for which the location tracking information has been provided; and display an indication of the location of the specific item on the display.

A reading device includes a first support member extending vertically, a scanner attached to the first support member and including a window facing a first direction and through which an item can be scanned by an operator, an extension member attached to an upper portion of the first support member and extending in the first direction above the scanner, a camera attached to an end of the extension member in the first direction and configured to capture an image of the operator, and a controller configured to issue a notification signal when the controller detects from the captured image that the operator is carrying out a predetermined operation.

A system for providing and/or collecting information relating to at least one object is provided. The system comprises a radio-frequency identification, RFID, tag that is provided proximate to the at least one object, the RFID tag being configured to enable detection of a position and/or a movement of the at least one object; a server device configured to receive position and/or movement data about the at least one object; and a mobile device configured to: identify the at least one object; send a request to the server device for object information about the identified at least one object; wherein: the server device is further configured to, in response to the request, provide to the mobile device targeted object information about the identified at least one object, the targeted object information being at least partially based on the position and/or movement data; and the mobile device is further configured to display the targeted object information.

The present invention provides a processing apparatus (10) including a product database management unit (11) that registers a registration target product in a product database, and a special information management unit (13) that, when a similar-appearance product being similar in appearance to the registration target product at a predetermined level or more is registered in the product database, registers both the registration target product and the similar-appearance product as first processing target products requiring first processing, and registers information associating the registration target product and the similar-appearance product.

Transaction records for self-service checkout transactions are provided in real-time to a customizable machine-learning rescan audit service. Any retailer defined settings with respect to random audits are enforced by the service and the real-time transaction records are provided to a machine-learning model that returns rescan scores based on the real-time transaction records. The service compares the rescan scores in view of retailer-defined suspicious scores for both a full rescan of a given checkout transaction and a partial rescan of the given checkout transaction. The service alerts the retailer when a rescan audit is predicted to be warranted for any given self-service checkout transaction based on random selection or based on the computed rescan score. The machine-learning model is continuously and regularly retrained. In an embodiment, the service provides reports, a dashboard, and mining of the transaction records and the audits to the retailer though a service-provided interface.

According to one embodiment, a maintenance support device includes a first acquisition unit, a second acquisition unit, a generation unit, and an output unit. The first acquisition unit acquires first image data displayed on a screen of a display unit of a merchandise registration device. The second acquisition unit acquires operation data related to an operation of the merchandise registration device. The generation unit generates second image data including the first image data and the operation data corresponding to the first image data in time. The output unit outputs the second image data generated by the generation unit.
