A computing device installed in or mountable to a shopping cart, includes a camera configured to capture an image, and a processor configured to acquire commodity data of a registered commodity, when an object is placed in the shopping cart, perform object recognition on an image of the object captured by the camera, and determine whether the recognized object is a commodity corresponding to the acquired commodity data, and upon determining that the recognized object is not the commodity corresponding to the acquired commodity data, issue a request for displaying a message instructing registration of the recognized object as a registered commodity.

A payment system including an electronic cash register associated with a physical point of sale of a merchant; and a payment acquisition device for advantageously cooperating with a payment issuing device of a client via a first link. Such a payment acquisition device transmits payment transaction messages (MSGT) to a bank server via a second link in order to implement electronic payment transactions. A sales data processing device includes a controller that acquires article identification information from a wireless tag on an article. The controller interrogates a server for information corresponding to the acquired article identification information. The server stores information concerning individual articles handled at a first store at which the sales data processing device is located and a second store. The controller determines, based on the information returned from the server, whether the article matching the article identification information read from the wireless tag is listed as being is in stock at the first store. If the article is in stock, the controller registers the article identification information in a sales transaction, then updates the information on the first server to indicate that the article is no longer in stock.

A product reading device of an embodiment that reads a code symbol attached to a product, the product reading device includes a first reading unit that forms a reading region, in which the code symbol can be read, on a side where an operator is located; a second reading unit that is provided at a position different from that of the first reading unit, and forms the reading region on the side where the operator is located; and a controller that reads code information held in the code symbol from a reading result of the first reading unit or the second reading unit, wherein the reading region of the first reading unit and the reading region of the second reading unit at least partially overlap.

A sales data processing system includes a registration unit configured to register information of a commodity specified by information acquired by a mobile terminal as sales data, a state recognition unit configured to recognize a state of an operator of the mobile terminal based on the information acquired by the mobile terminal, in parallel with a process by the registration unit, a determination unit configured to determine whether support from a clerk is required, based on the state of the operator recognized by the state recognition unit, and a request output unit configured to output information for requesting support for the operator to a clerk terminal operated by the clerk, if the determination unit determines that the support from the clerk is required.

The method includes identifying each item of a plurality of items, based on at least one image of the plurality of items, determining a cost for each item, optionally identifying a person based on an image of the person, adding each of the items and each of the costs to a sale transaction, and charging the person for the sale transaction.

A wireless tag is integrated into a reusable bag. The tag is registered to a payment account. During a transaction, a unique identifier for the tag is wirelessly acquired from the bag and linked to the payment account. When checkout for the transaction is required, the transaction price for the transaction is charged against the linked account without requiring any additional payment screens or payment interfaces at a transaction terminal where the transaction is being processed. In an embodiment, custom use, price, item type, store type, and/or weight restrictions with respect to the transaction and registered with the tag are enforced during checkout by the transaction terminal.

A payment device of an embodiment includes a first reading unit and a second reading unit each of which reads a symbol attached to a product; a notification part; and a controller, wherein the controller determines whether the first reading unit has read a symbol within a predetermined time when the second reading unit reads a symbol attached to the product, the controller causes the notification part to issue a notification that a symbol has been read when the first reading unit has read the symbol, and the controller causes the notification part to issue a notification that the symbol has been read after a lapse of the predetermined time when the first reading unit has not read the symbol within the predetermined time.

A store management system includes a first determination unit, a monitoring unit, a settlement unit, a second determination unit, and a generation unit. The first determination unit determines a customer entering a store displaying and selling a commodity. The monitoring unit monitors that the customer determined by the first determination unit carries the commodity. The generation unit generates history data including suspicious data indicating that the customer, identified by an identification code, is associated with an unsettled commodity being carried out of the store, when a settlement of the commodity carried by the customer which is determined by the second determination unit as leaving the store has not been completed by the settlement unit.
