Systems, methods, and devices for locating items, people, and/or animals are provided. In accordance with some embodiments, locator devices for locating a target device are provided, the locator devices comprising: a first transceiver configured to communicate with a second transceiver in the target device; a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver configured to receive data from a plurality of satellites for calculating a location; a visual indicator; and a hardware processor that: receives signals from the first transceiver; calculates an estimated distance between the locator device and a target device based on the signals; controls whether the GNSS receiver is powered on or off based on the estimated distance; and causes the visual indicator indicate an estimated direction to the target device from the locator device.
Method and apparatus for improved position and orientation based information display
Apparatus and methods for enhanced wireless determination of a position and direction of a smart device are describe which support the display of a virtual tag upon a user interface of the smart device. Wireless transceivers controlled by the smart device communicate with reference point transceivers to generate data sufficient to determine relative positions of the wireless transceivers and a direction of interest. Operation of LIDAR may be operative to verify the position and direction of the Smart Device as well as a topography of the environment.
Apparatus and method to aid in finding misplaced, forgotten, or unused items
Devices to aid in finding items, including purses or other luggage, along with methods of operation of the devices. The resultant movement of an item during use, and lack of movement of an item during non-use, are exploited to alert a user to the whereabouts of the item through adaptive techniques. A device is located with the item, purse, or other luggage, and configured to sense motion information. Location notification may be based on such motion information.

An apparatus, method and computer program, the apparatus comprising: processing circuitry; and memory circuitry including computer program code; the memory circuitry and the computer program code configured to, with the processing circuitry, cause the apparatus to, at least in part: obtain information relating to a position of an object relative to a user; determine a field of vision of the user; determine whether or not the object is in the field of vision of the user; and if it is determined that the object is not in the field of vision of the user enable an alert to be provided.

Apparatus and methods for enhanced wireless determination of a position and direction of a smart device are describe which support the display of a virtual tag upon a user interface of the smart device. Operation of LIDAR may be operative to verify the position and direction of the Smart Device as well as a topography of the environment.
Tracking device for a track and locate system
A tracking device for a track and rescue system that wirelessly couples to a control system via a first link established between a control system first type wireless communication interface coupled to the control system and a tracking device first type wireless communication interface included in the tracking device when the tracking device first type wireless communication interface is within range of the control system first type wireless communication interface. The tracking device determines that a first predetermine time period has been satisfied, and in response, determines location information for the tracking device using the positioning system. The tracking device sends, in response to the first predetermined time period being satisfied, an alive signal to the control system via the first link, and the alive signal includes the location information.

A monitoring system includes an identification unit configured to identify a person to be monitored, a first position information acquisition unit configured to acquire position information about the person to be monitored, a notification unit configured to detect that the person to be monitored enters a predetermined range and notify a terminal of a monitor person of the person to be monitored entering the predetermined range, a data storage section configured to store an image of the person to be monitored captured within the predetermined range with the terminal by the monitor person who receives the notification so as to be capable of providing to an identifying person who identifies the person to be monitored, and a processing unit capable of providing an image of the person to be monitored to the identifying person who identifies the person to be monitored.
Tracking proximities of devices and/or objects
Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method, and/or computer program product embodiments for tracking proximities of devices and/or objects. In one embodiment, the system operates by determining whether a plurality of devices of a tethered segment are inside or outside a predefined area. The system also operates by determining that a first device of the plurality of devices is outside of the predefined area based at least partially on the determination of whether the plurality of devices are inside or outside the predefined area. The system further operates by transmitting at least one alert notification to at least one device based at least partially on the determination that the first device is outside the predefined area, wherein the alert notification identifies the first device outside the predefined area.
Geographic boundary compliance detection using body-worn offender monitoring electronic devices
A body-worn tracking device (BWTD) includes a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) device, at least one motion sensor, at least one processor, and at least one memory device. The at least one memory device includes instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to determine, based on data generated by the at least one motion sensor, a net distance between the last known location of the BWTD and a current location of the BWTD. The instructions further cause the at least one processor to determine, based on the net distance, whether the BWTD is within a bounded area that includes the last known location; and responsive to determining that BWTD is not within the bounded area, output an indication that the BWTD is not within the bounded area.
