SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETERMINING INTERSECTION THREAT INDICES

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems and methods for determining intersection threat indices. In one embodiment, geometry data representing a set of pathways in an environment is identified. An initial threat index value for a first intersection is generated based on a quantity of pathways in a subset of the set of pathways defining the first intersection. An intermediate threat index value for the first intersection is generated based on the initial threat index value for the first intersection and at least one other initial threat index value for at least one other intersection determined to be adjacent to the first intersection. A final threat index value is generated based on the intermediate threat index value and dynamically received data. Information indicative of the final threat index value for the first intersection is provided to a user interface.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PREVENTING WRONG SURFACE EVENTS

Example implementations relate to systems and techniques for coordinating and assigning aircraft and ground vehicles to runways to prevent wrong surface events and to minimize runway incursions. An aircraft initially receives instructions identifying a runway for use by the aircraft generated by an Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) and then subsequently receives a runway identification (ID) code transmitted by a sensor subsystem positioned proximate the runway, which is used by a runway-aircraft pairing management system. An onboard verification system of the aircraft then compares the runway ID code with the runway identified in the ground navigation instruction and uses an onboard transmitter to transmit a confirmation to the sensor subsystem positioned proximate the runway when the code and runway match. The aircraft then displays instructions for the aircraft to proceed with use of the runway.

A dynamic ground distance training system and method of training for pilots including one or more emitters facing downward direct signal of focused energy (or sound and/or light) towards the runway and said focused energy signal is reflected from the runway; the reflected signal is received by one or more receivers positioned generally downward; and, the energy signal is processed via microprocessor(s) and a distance based on the time intervals when sampling signal reflections is determined.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE SERVICING OF MODULAR DEVICE ASSEMBLY

Particular embodiments described herein provide for modular device assemblies and methods for enabling maintenance and servicing, particularly by an unmanned aerial vehicle. A device assembly comprises a plurality of modules, each module having control circuitry, a communications port and contact points to couple the modules. When the modules are coupled, the communications ports are connected to create a bus for communications between the modules. The modular device structure where modules are removable and replaceable allows for an unmanned aerial vehicle to perform maintenance on the device.

VISUAL DOCKING GUIDANCE SYSTEM

Embodiments herein are directed to a visual docking guidance system configured to support an aircraft docking procedure where an approaching aircraft is docked at an airport stand. The VDGS is configured to detect the presence of the aircraft approaching the stand, identify at least the type of the approaching aircraft, determine a position of the approaching aircraft, output a visual guidance information via a display to the pilot of the aircraft, which supports the pilot during controlling movement of the aircraft to a stop position.

System and method for calculation and display of formation flight information on augmented reality display device

Disclosed are systems and associated methods for calculating and displaying formation flight information, to include aircraft spacing, predicted trajectory data, collision avoidance alerts, time on target details, and chalk-specific information, on an augmented reality display designed to interface with aviation helmets. Two or more networked computing devices, each on a separate aircraft, collect some combination of aircraft altitude, location, and inertial data, preform certain calculations, and then develops a virtual overlay according to aircraft relative position and nearby aircraft trajectories. The virtual overlay is further informed by compass and gyroscopic data from an operatively coupled augmented reality display device. The developed virtual overlay is then transmitted to the display device for viewing by the pilot. The display of relevant formation flight information using augmented reality tools may result in improved formation flight spacing, emergency procedure response, and collision avoidance.
