SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GEO-FENCING DEVICE COMMUNICATIONS

An aerial vehicle includes a communication unit configured to receive a wireless signal from a geo-fencing device, and a flight controller configured to generate one or more control signals that cause the aerial vehicle to operate in accordance with a set of flight regulations generated based on the wireless signal. The geo-fencing device is configured not for landing of the aerial vehicle. The set of flight regulations includes rules for controlling at least one of the aerial vehicle, a carrier carried by the aerial vehicle, or a payload of the aerial vehicle.

Flight control for flight-restricted regions

A method for controlling an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) includes determining whether the UAV is within a first flight restriction zone or a second flight restriction zone and effecting a restriction on the UAV in accordance with a result of the determination, including prohibiting the UAV from flying in response to determining that the UAV is within the first flight restriction zone, or controlling the UAV to fly below a flight ceiling in response to determining that the UAV is within the second flight restriction zone.

Flight control for flight-restricted regions

A movable object includes one or more processors individually or collectively configured to assess a location of the movable object, calculate a distance between the movable object and a restricted region using the location of the movable object, assess whether the distance falls within a first distance threshold, and instruct the movable object to take a movement response measure selected from (1) a first movement response measure when the distance falls within the first distance threshold, and (2) a second movement response measure different from the first movement response measure when the distance falls outside the first distance threshold. The first movement response measure is related to a current movement status of the movable object.

Method and System for Providing Route of Unmanned Air Vehicle

A method and a system for establishing a route of an unmanned aerial vehicle are provided. The method includes identifying an object from surface scanning data and shaping a space, which facilitates autonomous flight, as a layer, collecting surface image data for a flight path from the shaped layer, and analyzing a change in image resolution according to a distance from the object through the collected surface image data and extracting an altitude value on a flight route.

Fiducial-based navigation of unmanned vehicles

Techniques for facilitating an autonomous operation, such as an autonomous navigation, of an unmanned vehicle based on one or more fiducials. For example, image data of a fiducial may be generated with an optical sensor of the unmanned vehicle. The image data may be analyzed to determine a location of the fiducial. A location of the unmanned vehicle may be estimated from the location of the fiducial and the image. The autonomous navigation of the unmanned vehicle may be directed based on the estimated location.

Autonomous air taxi separation system and method

A system for urban air mobility monitors flight separation for compliance with a safe separation distance. A reference formation airspace is established for a reference air taxi based on minimum longitudinal, lateral and vertical parameters. When penetration of the reference formation airspace is detected, a penetration airspace is established. A centroid of the penetration airspace is determined and a target separation to the centroid is supplied to the air taxi to reestablish safe separation. The extent of separation is also safely contained by the presence of virtual air taxis whose positions on the periphery of the penetrated airspace serve to limit potential penetration of surrounding air taxi air spaces.

Systems, methods, and devices are provided for generating flight restriction zones associated with flight response measures. The flight restriction zones may be generated with one or more flight restriction strips. Flight response measures for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) may be directed based on a location and/or movement characteristic of the UAV relative to the one or more flight restriction strips. Different flight-response measures may be taken based on various parameters.

Process and System to Register and Regulate Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Operations
20170372617 · 2017-12-28 ·

A registration authority (RA) server registers unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and their owners/operators (O/O). A UAV is maintained in a flight lock state until a flight plan request from the O/O is approved by the RA, which sends an key-signed approval to unlock the UAV's flight lock. The RA server evaluates a UAV's proposed flight plan based on the attributes of the O/O and UAV, the location and time of the requested flight plan, and a set of flight rules and exclusion zones that are developed in view of privacy assurance, security assurance, flight safety assurance, and ground safety assurance. The flight plan key-signed approval supplied to the UAV by the RA server specifies an inclusion zone that corresponds to a flight plan trajectory to be followed. Once in flight, the UAV maintains real-time knowledge of its position and time to ensure its flight remains within the approved inclusion zone.

Systems and methods of the present invention are provided to generate a plurality of flight trajectories that do not conflict with other aircraft in a local area. Interventions by an air traffic control system help prevent collisions between aircraft, but these interventions can also cause an aircraft to substantially deviate from the pilot's intended flight trajectory, which burns fuels, wastes time, etc. Systems and methods of the present invention can assign a standard avoidance interval to other aircraft in the area such that a pilot's aircraft does not receive an intervention by an air traffic control system. Systems and methods of the present invention also generate a plurality of conflict-free flight trajectories such that a pilot or an automated system may select the most desirable flight trajectory for fuel efficiency, speed, and other operational considerations, etc.
