Coil spring modeling apparatus and method utilizing a torsion detection to control an actuator unit
A coil spring modeling apparatus includes a first attachment member disposed on a lower spring seat, a second attachment member disposed on an upper spring seat, an actuator unit formed of a Stewart-platform-type parallel mechanism, a hydraulic pressure supply device, a torsion detection mechanism, and a controller. The torsion detection mechanism is constituted of displacement gauges such as a linear variable differential transformer. The displacement gauges are provided on hydraulic cylinders, and detect amounts of displacement relative to the reference lengths of the hydraulic cylinders, respectively. The controller calculates a relative torsional angle between the first attachment member and the second attachment member based on the detected displacement.
Coil spring modeling apparatus and method of the same
A coil spring modeling apparatus includes a first attachment member disposed on a lower spring seat, a second attachment member disposed on an upper spring seat, an actuator unit formed of a Stewart-platform-type parallel mechanism, a spring height detection mechanism, and a controller. The spring height detection mechanism is constituted of displacement gauges such as a linear variable differential transformer. These gauges are provided on hydraulic cylinders, and detect amounts of displacement relative to the reference lengths of the hydraulic cylinders, respectively. A hydraulic pressure supply device is controlled by the controller and supplies fluid pressure according to the displacement detected by the gauges to the respective hydraulic cylinders.
Center of gravity based control apparatus for research and education
An educational tool for testing and demonstrating center of gravity based control. The educational tool includes a swing, a rod assembly operatively connected to the swing, a motor operatively connected to the rod assembly, at least one encoder for generating position signals, an interface box operatively connected to the motor and the encoder, and a computing device operatively connected to the interface box. The computing device receives the position signals from the interface box, analyze the position signals to determine a center of gravity of the swing and the rod assembly, and generate motor control signals to adjust the swing and the rod assembly to a stable pose. The interface box transmits the motor control signals to the motor and transmits the position signals from the encoder to the computing device.

A METHOD OF EVALUATING AND/OR OPTIMIZING A MICRO MODEL
Disclosed is a method of evaluating and optimizing a micro model prior to fabrication of the micro model. The method comprises obtaining a design document describing a geometry of a proposed micro model and abstracting the geometry into a simplified representation of said geometry, such as a pore network representation. Performance of the proposed micro model based on the abstracted geometry is simulated and based on this, the proposed micro model is evaluated and/or optimized.
BREAST MOTION SIMULATOR
Analyzing a prosthetic torso with synthetic skin and breast tissue includes monitoring a movement of a prosthetic torso with a sensor, and determining, based on data from the sensor, a viscoelastic characteristic of the prosthetic torso. The movement can include at least one of a jumping motion, a walking motion, or a running motion.
