SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRAINING SIMULATION OF A SURGICAL ROBOTIC SYSTEM
A surgical robotic system includes a surgical console and a training simulation console operably coupled to the surgical console. The surgical console includes a display and a user input device configured to generate a user input. The training simulation console includes a memory, a simulator, a master slave controller, and a simulation controller operably coupled to the simulator and the master slave controller. The memory is configured to store session data and instrument information. The simulator is configured to initialize a session. The master slave controller is configured to receive input positions from the user input device and to determine desired drive commands for the robotic arm or instrument drive unit. The simulation controller is configured to simulate in the session, operating of at least one of the robotic arm or the instrument drive unit.
Kyphoplasty system and method
A kyphoplasty system includes various instruments which can be selectively used in a surgical theater (e.g., during a surgical operation on a patient) or a surgical training environment. The kyphoplasty system can include one or more of a kyphoplasty apparatus, a prone table mat, a connector system, a bone introducer needle, and a biopsy device. The kyphoplasty system may also include a training system for use in the training environment.
Virtual reality training, simulation, and collaboration in a robotic surgical system
A virtual reality system providing a virtual robotic surgical environment, and methods for using the virtual reality system, are described herein. Within the virtual reality system, various user modes enable different kinds of interactions between a user and the virtual robotic surgical environment. For example, one variation of a method for facilitating navigation of a virtual robotic surgical environment includes displaying a first-person perspective view of the virtual robotic surgical environment from a first vantage point, displaying a first window view of the virtual robotic surgical environment from a second vantage point and displaying a second window view of the virtual robotic surgical environment from a third vantage point. Additionally, in response to a user input associating the first and second window views, a trajectory between the second and third vantage points can be generated sequentially linking the first and second window views.
Generating approximations of cardiograms from different source configurations
Systems are provided for generating data representing electromagnetic states of a heart for medical, scientific, research, and/or engineering purposes. The systems generate the data based on source configurations such as dimensions of, and scar or fibrosis or pro-arrhythmic substrate location within, a heart and a computational model of the electromagnetic output of the heart. The systems may dynamically generate the source configurations to provide representative source configurations that may be found in a population. For each source configuration of the electromagnetic source, the systems run a simulation of the functioning of the heart to generate modeled electromagnetic output (e.g., an electromagnetic mesh for each simulation step with a voltage at each point of the electromagnetic mesh) for that source configuration. The systems may generate a cardiogram for each source configuration from the modeled electromagnetic output of that source configuration for use in predicting the source location of an arrhythmia.
SURGICAL SIMULATION NETWORK SYSTEM
A surgical simulation network system is provided that facilitates user training in various surgical procedures and subsequent assessments of the user by allowing the users and assessors to be at different physical locations. The surgical simulation network system is part of a network having various surgical trainers that capture user performance data related to various surgical simulations. The user performance data is subsequently accessible by one or more assessors via the surgical simulation network system that allows the assessors to assess the user's competency. Thus, the users and the assessors can be located at different locations. Furthermore, the performance of the simulation and the assessments can be performed at different times.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS TO QUANTIFY CLINICAL CANNULATION SKILL
Disclosed herein is a system for evaluating a user during a physical cannulation simulation. The system includes a physical cannulation simulator and one or more sensors configured to measure data during the physical cannulation simulation by the user using the physical cannulation simulator. The system further includes one or more processors configured to receive the data measured by each of the one or more sensors and calculate metrics using the data. The one or more processors are further configured to apply a model to the metrics to determine a composite simulation success score and compare the composite simulation success score to a threshold score. In response to comparing the composite simulation success score to the threshold score, the one or more processors are configured to output an indication of one or more of an absolute performance or a relative performance for the first user during the physical cannulation simulation.
Devices and methods for drug administration and mixing, and training of proper techniques therefor
A device for training users in a proper mixing of pharmaceutical components, or for aiding in the mixing, or for performing the mixing, and administration of pharmaceutical components is disclosed. The device comprises a housing for receiving a pharmaceutical delivery device containing the pharmaceutical components. There is also a microcontroller disposed in the housing and a motion/orientation detection device disposed within or on the housing and in communication with the microcontroller. A method for use of the device is also disclosed, along with a substance for use as one of the pharmaceutical components.
INJECTION SIMULATION DEVICE AND METHOD
An injection simulation device for simulating one or more forces of an injection is provided herein. The device may include a housing and a retractable injection simulation member associated with the housing, wherein the retractable injection simulation member retracts according to a multi-phase force profile. The multi-phase force profile includes a first phase configured to simulate a deformation force of pressing a needle against a subject so as to deform at least a first layer of tissue prior to traversing at least the first layer of tissue of the subject, a second phase configured to simulate a puncture rebound force, and a third phase configured to simulate an insertion force.
HYSTERECTOMY MODEL
A surgical simulator for surgical training is provided. The simulator includes a frame defining an enclosure and a simulated tissue model located inside the enclosure. The simulated tissue model is adapted for practicing a number of surgical procedures including but not limited to transanal excisions and transvaginal hysterectomies. The simulated tissue model includes one more components and is interchangeably connected to the frame with fasteners configured to pass through apertures in the frame to suspend the simulated tissue model within the frame. The enclosure of the frame is increasingly laterally constricted along the longitudinal axis to progressively increase the confinement of the components of the simulated tissue model.
INJECTION TRAINING APPARATUS USING 3D POSITION SENSOR
Systems and methods are disclosed for an apparatus and method for practicing injection techniques through an injectable apparatus. The injectable apparatus may contain a camera that is configured to provide three-dimensional location information for a testing tool based on light attenuated from the testing tool after it is injected into a simulated human or animal body parts. A training tool may be connected to a user display device to generate a display of the injection apparatus as well as the performance parameters of a trainee.
