DISPLAY APPARATUS AND METHOD OF DISPLAYING USING POLARIZERS AND OPTICAL COMBINERS
A display apparatus and a method of displaying, via the display apparatus. The display apparatus includes an image source, a processor configured to render an image at the image source, at least one optical combiner for combining a projection of the rendered image with a projection of a real world image, a first polarizing element for polarizing the projection of the real world image at a first polarization orientation, wherein the first polarizing element is positioned on a first side of the at least one optical combiner upon which the projection of the real world image is incident, and a second polarizing element facing a second side of the at least one optical combiner, polarization properties of the second polarizing element being adjustable, wherein the polarization properties of the second polarizing element are to be adjusted with respect to the first polarization orientation of the first polarizing element.
Display device, and display method therefor
This display device is provided with a display unit, a beam splitter, and a first mirror. The display unit emits a first image and a second image. The beam splitter has, incident thereon, the first image and the second image which are emitted from the display unit. The beam splitter transmits the incident first image and reflects the incident second image to project the first image and the second image on a display medium. The first mirror has, incident thereon, the first image which has been transmitted through the beam splitter. The first mirror reflects the incident first image to project the first image on the display medium.

Systems and methods for providing a virtual heads up display in a vehicle simulator include a vehicle simulator. The vehicle simulator includes a visual projector including visual system optics, a virtual heads up display (VHUD) projector mounted within the visual system optics of the visual projector and a projection screen configured to project images generated by the visual projector and the VHUD projector. The vehicle simulator also includes a VHUD eye reference frame mounted within the vehicle simulator, the VHUD eye reference frame configured to allow viewing therethrough of the projected images.

This display device is provided with a display unit, a beam splitter, and a first mirror. The display unit emits a first image and a second image. The beam splitter has, incident thereon, the first image and the second image which are emitted from the display unit. The beam splitter transmits the incident first image and reflects the incident second image to project the first image and the second image on a display medium. The first mirror has, incident thereon, the first image which has been transmitted through the beam splitter. The first mirror reflects the incident first image to project the first image on the display medium.
