MULTILAYER BODY
Provided is a multilayer body having good print readability and removability. A multilayer body (1) is for a laser marking label and includes a first layer (10) allowing laser light to pass through, a second layer (20) developing a color by laser light, and a third layer (30) having adhesiveness, which are stacked in this order. The second layer (20) consists of a resin composition containing an acrylic-based copolymer, an isocyanate-based crosslinking agent, a color development pigment, and a white pigment. The isocyanate-based crosslinking agent is selected from (i) an aromatic-aliphatic isocyanate-based crosslinking agent or (ii) a mixture of an aliphatic or alicyclic isocyanate-based crosslinking agent and an aromatic isocyanate-based crosslinking agent. A contained amount of the isocyanate-based crosslinking agent is 5-40 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the acrylic-based copolymer. The second layer (20) is in contact with the first laver (10).
Labels and Tags for High Temperature Applications
Various tags and adhesive labels are described which can be used in high temperature environments such as up to 1,000° C. The tags and labels include a substrate having one or more high temperature printable coatings. The labels can also include pressure sensitive adhesives and optional release liners.
PERFORATED, COMBINED RECEIPT AND LABEL ROLL
A receipt and label roll comprises a core and a web having a longitudinally-extending axis and wound on the core along the axis. The web includes (i) a substrate having a front side and a back side opposite the front side, (ii) a thermally-sensitive coating disposed on the front side of the substrate, (iii) adhesive disposed on a portion of the back side of the substrate along the web axis, and (iv) a release coating disposed on the front side of the substrate along the web axis to prevent the adhesive from sticking to the front side of the substrate when the web is wound on the core. The web further includes (v) a longitudinal weakened structure extending along a direction parallel to the web axis and dividing the web into a first web portion on which the adhesive is disposed and a second web portion which is substantially devoid of adhesive.
PRESSURE-SENSITIVE LABEL
A pressure sensitive label and method for preparing same, the pressure sensitive label comprising: (a) a support portion, the support portion including at least a carrier layer; and (b) a transfer portion over the support portion for transfer of the transfer portion to an article upon application of pressure while the transfer portion is in contact with the article. The transfer portion may include at least (i) a printable layer in contacting relationship with the carrier layer, and (ii) an ink layer positioned such that the printable layer is between the carrier layer and the ink layer.
SHIELDED DIRECT THERMAL LABEL AND METHODS
A roll of direct-thermal material may have a length of direct-thermal material including a facestock. An adhesive layer is on a first side of the facestock. A direct thermal coating is on a second side of the facestock, the direct thermal coating configured to selectively darken by heat activation when direct thermal printed. a cured ultraviolet LED coating is on the direct thermal coating, the cured ultraviolet LED coating having photoinitiators with substantial activation at an exposure limited to LED radiation at a 365 nm-450 nm wavelength range, and configured to allow direct thermal printing of the direct thermal coating therethrough, the cured ultraviolet LED coating curable without heat activating the direct thermal coating. The length of direct-thermal material being rolled on itself.
Combined receipt and label roll having optimal adhesive patch patterns and a method of manufacturing thereof
A combined receipt and label roll comprises a core, and a web having a longitudinally-extending axis and wound on the core along the axis. The web includes (i) a substrate having a front side and a back side opposite the front side, (ii) a thermally-sensitive coating disposed on the front side of the substrate, and (iii) a water-based microsphere adhesive disposed on the back side of the substrate along the web axis. The water-based microsphere adhesive comprises at least four separate adhesive patches. The at least four adhesive patches are both sized relative to each other and positioned relative to each other on the back side of the substrate such that additional tack desired can be obtained by increasing volume of the adhesive patches without having to increase coat weight of the adhesive patches.
POST CONSUMER WASTE THERMAL FACE SHEET
Label assemblies and methods of manufacturing label assemblies are described. In an aspect, a label assembly includes a post-consumer waste (PCW) paper layer and a thermal coating applied at a side of the post-consumer waste paper layer. The post-consumer waste paper layer may have a fiber density that allows the thermal coating to sit on the side of the post-consumer waste paper layer while reducing absorption of the thermal coating within the post-consumer waste paper layer.
Shielded direct thermal label and methods
A label comprises a facestock adapted to be adhered or attached to an object. A direct thermal coating is on the facestock, the direct thermal coating configured to selectively darken by heat activation when direct thermal printed. A cured ultraviolet coating is on the direct thermal coating, the cured ultraviolet coating having photoinitiators with substantial activation at an exposure limited to radiation at a 315 nm-450 nm wavelength range, and configured to allow direct thermal printing of the direct thermal coating therethrough. The ultraviolet coating is cured without heat activating the direct thermal coating.
