Adaptive recoloring

Adaptive recoloring of displayed digital content automatically pursues specified active color palette goals while adhering to specified active color palette constraints. Source code editors, word processors, and other programs are enhanced by adaptive recoloring. Recoloring rules may specify coloring roles, colors, tolerances, color spaces, metrics, and other criteria. Recoloring may be triggered by a zoom or another change in user focus, by a brightness change, a screen size change, by notice of a user perception change, or by another event. Recoloring improves text legibility, assists user focus, compensates for differences in color perception and emotional impact, and increases color availability without degrading usability, for example. Transitions between words or other display items can be heightened. Branding colors may be preserved, in logos and text. Automatic selections may be overridden by a user command or by interactive tuning, with warnings given as appropriate.

An electronic device includes a processor, a sensor module, and a display device. The display device includes a display panel including a normal display region in which first pixels are disposed, and a light transmission region in which second pixels are disposed, the light transmission region overlapping the sensor module, and a panel driver driving the display panel based on input image data received from the processor, and transferring light transmission region position information representing a position of the light transmission region to the processor. The processor performs a masking operation on the input image data for the light transmission region based on the light transmission region position information in a first mode.

Display calibration system

A system may include multiple electronic devices. A first device such as a source electronic device may supply visual content for displaying by a display in a second electronic device such as a display electronic device. The display electronic device may be a television or other device with a display. Calibration operations may be performed by taking light measurements on light produced by the display when test content is provided from the first device to the second device. A third electronic device in the system such as a portable electronic device with an ambient light sensor may make measurement on the light from the display while the test content is being displayed. The test content may contain a test image target with time-varying color and time-varying intensity, allowing calibration information such as gamma curves to be obtained on the display.

CONTENT CREATIVE INTENTION PRESERVATION UNDER VARIOUS AMBIENT COLOR TEMPERATURES

One embodiment provides a method comprising receiving an input content, and receiving ambient contextual data indicative of one or more ambient lighting conditions of an environment including a display device. The input content has corresponding metadata that at least partially represents a creative intent indicative of how the input content is intended to be viewed. The method further comprises adaptively correcting the input content based on the ambient contextual data to preserve the creative intent, and providing the corrected input content to the display device for presentation. The adaptively correcting comprises applying automatic white balancing to the input content to correct color tone of the input content.

Method for image processing of image data for image and visual effects on a two-dimensional display wall

A captured scene captured of a live action scene while a display wall is positioned to be part of the live action scene may be processed. To perform the processing, image data of the live action scene having a live actor and the display wall displaying a first rendering of a precursor image is received. Further, precursor metadata for the precursor image displayed on the display wall and display wall metadata for the display wall is determined. An image matte is accessed, where the image matte indicates a first portion associated with the live actor and a second portion associated with the precursor image on the display wall in the live action scene. Pixel display values to add or modify an image effect or a visual effect are determined, and the image data is adjusted using the pixel display values and the image matte.

System and method for age-based gamut mapping

A method for processing an input image having an initial gamut to a targeted image having a wider gamut for display on a wide-gamut display includes determining a set of color scaling factors based on different parameters including one or more user-related characteristics of a user and the available gamut of the wide-gamut display device, applying a gamut-mapping to the input image based on the available gamut to generate a gamut-mapped image and applying the set of color scaling factors to the gamut-mapped image to generate the targeted image. A user device having a wide-gamut display device also includes an image processing module configured for performing the method for processing the input image.

Display management with ambient light compensation

A display apparatus, a display management module and a method for ambient light compensation are described. The display management module is configured to receive an input video signal comprising a sequence of video frames and to determine whether a current video frame of the sequence of video frames immediately follows a scene change. The display management module is further configured to adjust ambient light compensation applied to the input signal in dependence on the signal indicative of intensity of ambient light only in response to determining that the current video frame of the sequence of video frames immediately follows a scene change.

Raw grayscale image data, representing images to be displayed in successive frames, is used to drive a display having pixels that include a drive transistor and an organic light emitting device by dividing each frame into at least first and second-frames, and supplying each pixel with a drive current that is higher in the first sub-frame than in the second sub-frame for raw grayscale values in a first preselected range, and higher in the second sub-frame than in the first sub-frame for raw grayscale values in a second preselected range. The display may be an active matrix display, such as an AMOLED display.
