VIEWING-ANGLE-DEPENDENT COLOR/BRIGHTNESS CORRECTION FOR DISPLAY SYSTEM
A display system including a tracking subsystem configured to track one of a pose of a head of a viewer or a pose of an eye of the viewer. The display system further includes an image correction module configured to, for each pixel of at least a subset of pixels of an input image, determine a pixel view angle for the pixel based on the pose of the head or the pose of the eye, determine a corrected pixel value based on an input pixel value of the pixel in the input image and based on the pixel view angle; and provide the corrected pixel value for the pixel in an angle-corrected image corresponding to the input image. The display system further includes a display panel to display the angle-corrected image.
Parallel implementation of a dithering algorithm for high data rate display devices
A display device includes a display controller that performs a high-throughput dithering operation. The display controller performs a quantization operation with pixel values generated by a graphics processor to generate quantized pixel values and residual error values. The display controller distributes the residual error values associated with a first group of quantized pixel values to a second group of quantized pixel values based on a set of distribution weights. A given distribution weight defines what fraction of a given residual error value is distributed to a given quantized pixel value included in the second group of quantized pixel values. The distribution weights are calibrated to permit the display controller to compute different fractions of residual error values using bit shifting logic instead of complex combinatorial logic.
Display device for alleviating flicker phenomenon and pulse modulator included in the same
In a display device according to an embodiment, subframes having the same number of active unit time(s) are distributed. As a result, according to the display device of the disclosure, the flicker phenomenon may be alleviated.
Display pixel overdrive systems and methods
Aspects of the subject technology relate to display circuitry including pixel overdrive circuitry. The pixel overdrive circuitry includes a compression engine that compresses a previous display frame, for storage and comparison to a current display frame without compression or decompression of the current display frame. The compression engine compresses the previous frame in such a way that the maximum compression error is always known and can be used to determine whether to perform overdrive operations for the current frame without compressing and decompressing the current display frame. The compression engine selects gradient encoding or decimation encoding for the compression of the previous display frame and can perform successive decimation operations within the gradient encoding operations to help reduce the size of the compressed previous frame while maintaining the quality of the ultimate overdriven current frame.
