Sound source for electronic percussion instrument and sound production control method thereof

A sound source for an electronic percussion instrument and sound production control method thereof are provided. An electronic drum sound source device performs a weighting operation on four pieces of waveform information (pitch envelope, amplitude envelope, start phase) stored in a waveform table according to the beating conditions (hitting point position, velocity) based on the output from a struck sensor of an electronic drum pad. The electronic drum sound source device creates a sine wave on the basis of the waveform information whereon the weighting operation was performed, and generates musical sounds (sounds of percussion instrument) by synthesizing the sine wave with the waveforms of residual waveform data whereon the weighting operation was performed. The sine wave is not synthesized with waveform data other than the residual waveform data, and thus consistent musical sounds with no phase interference can be reproduced.

A computer implemented method for analysing sounds, such as audio tracks, and automatically classifying the sounds in a space in which arousal is one axis and valence is another axis. The location of a sound or track in that arousal-valence space is automatically determined using a computer implemented system that analyses, measures or infers values for each of the following base feature parameters: harmonicity, turbulence, rhythmicity, sharpness, volume and linear harmonic cost, or any combination of two or more of those parameters.

A musical sound playback method that is performed by a processor using data in a memory, including generating a plurality of interpolated data where input data for a segment corresponding to musical sounds has been interpolated, based on values in the input data which are related to both the segment corresponding to the musical sounds and a change amount of the musical sounds, generating a plurality of instruction data for providing instructions regarding musical sound states to be achieved at a plurality of timings in the segment, based on the plurality of interpolated data, and sequentially transmitting the plurality of instruction data to a sound source circuit so as to cause the sound source circuit to generate the musical sounds while sequentially changing the musical sounds to be in the musical sound states instructed by the instruction data, when a musical sound playback for the segment is performed.

When transferring waveform data from a waveform region in a high-capacity flash memory to a waveform buffer in a RAM, first, whether a non-ring buffer region that can receive the waveform data can be allocated in the RAM is determined, and if so, the waveform data is transferred to the allocated non-ring buffer region. If such a non-ring buffer region cannot be allocated, then whether a ring buffer region that can receive the waveform data can be allocated in the RAM is determined, and if so, the waveform data is transferred to the ring-buffer region in a ring buffer operational manner.
