The present disclosure provides a portable music production apparatus which a USB interface for connecting to a computer device, the apparatus comprises a first control element which is configured to provide a pitch bend functionality and a second control element which can be assigned to modulate any parameter a user desires like a modulation wheel. The apparatus can also be provided with additional programmable control elements.

A sound data determined to be usable in the management information is validated so that it can be used for loading or writing. The arrangement includes at least one sensor for generating a force signal from the at least one detected force. A processing unit is configured for converting the force signal into a digital auditory signal. A method in accord with certain implementations involves, at a data interface of a musical instrument effects processor, receiving an extracted characteristic of an audible sound that is captured at a microphone; transferring the extracted characteristic to a digital signal processor residing in the musical instrument effects processor; receiving input signals at an input to the musical instrument effects processor; at the digital signal processor of the musical instrument effects processor, modifying the received input signals using the extracted characteristics to create the electronic audio effect; and outputting the modified input signals as an output signal from the musical instrument effects processor. A music generating system enables a user to generate independent and sequential musical melodies, having reduced latency periods, without playing an electronic percussion instrument. The music generating system includes an electronic percussion instrument, a MIDI controller coupled to the electronic percussion instrument, a unidirectional USB communication link coupled to the MIDI controller, a MIDI converter coupled to the unidirectional USB communication link, a bidirectional USB-MIDI communication link coupled to the MIDI converter, and a rhythm drum machine in communication with the bidirectional USB-MIDI communication link. The MIDI converter is configured to independently and sequentially receive and learn a first audio control signal and a second audio control signal in a non-overlapping pattern, and thereby independently and sequentially generates and transmits to the rhythm drum machine a first musical melody and a second musical melody corresponding to the first audio control signal and the second audio control signal, respectively.

Systems and methods for a digital instrument are described, for example to simulate or be used in conjunction with a stringed instrument. A sensor system detects the deflection of one or more strings of the digital instrument, produces a measurement of the detected deflection, correlates the measurement to a musical note, and produces at least a portion of digital output based upon the musical note.

A musical device between one or more Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) controllers and one or more musical instruments comprises a housing and a plurality of potentiometers on a surface of the housing. A method of mapping music messages using a musical device is provided. The method includes defining a preset value corresponding to a frequency to be received within a MIDI message. Once a MIDI message having the frequency is received by the device, the device uses the data of the MIDI message and the preset value to create a new output MIDI message. The new output message is then transmitted to a sound module for producing a sound that differs from the sound that would have been produced from the MIDI message, had it been received.

A video game includes an audio-video stream combined with game graphics and game sounds. The game graphics are overlaid on the video stream and updated in synchronization with the stream. Update of the game graphics and sounds depends on inputs received from a game player. The game player may provide input using a game controller coupled to the video game by an adapter. The video game may play on a Blu-ray player.
