Improving speech recognition transcriptions
An approach to correcting transcriptions of speech recognition models may be provided. A list of similar sounding phonemes from associated with the phonemes of high frequency terms may be generated for a particular node associated with a virtual assistant. An utterance may be transcribed and receive a confidence score regarding the correctness of the transcription based on audio metrics and other factors. The phonemes of the utterance can be compared to the phonemes of the high frequency terms from the list and a score for the matching phonemes and similar sounding phonemes can be determined. If it is determined the sounds similar score for a term from the high frequency term list is above a threshold, the transcription can be replaced with the term, providing a corrected transcription.

User-specific acoustic models
Systems and processes for providing user-specific acoustic models are provided. In accordance with one example, a method includes, at an electronic device having one or more processors, receiving a plurality of speech inputs, each of the speech inputs associated with a same user of the electronic device; providing each of the plurality of speech inputs to a user-independent acoustic model, the user-independent acoustic model providing a plurality of speech results based on the plurality of speech inputs; initiating a user-specific acoustic model on the electronic device; and adjusting the user-specific acoustic model based on the plurality of speech inputs and the plurality of speech results.

Systems and methods for variably paced real-time translation between the written and spoken forms of a word
An enunciation system (ES) enables users to gain acquaintance, understanding, and mastery of the relationship between letters and sounds in the context of an alphabetic writing system. The ES enables the user to experience the action of sounding out a word, before their own phonics knowledge enables them to sound out the word independently; its continuous, unbroken speech output or input avoids the common confusions that ensue from analyzing words by breaking them up into discrete sounds; its user-controlled pacing allows the user to slow down enunciation at specific points of difficulty within the word; its real-time touch control allows the written word to be “played” like a musical instrument, with expressive and aesthetic possibilities; and its highlighting of the letter cluster that is responsible for the recognized phoneme enunciated by the user as it occurs allows the user to more easily associated the letters with the sounds.

Pronunciation conversion apparatus, pitch mark timing extraction apparatus, methods and programs for the same
Provided is a system which allows a learner who is a non-native speaker of a given language to intuitively improve pronunciation of the language. A pronunciation conversion apparatus includes a conversion section which converts a first feature value corresponding to a first speech signal obtained when a first speaker who speaks a given language as his/her native language speaks another language such that the first feature value approaches a second feature value corresponding to a second speech signal obtained when a second speaker who speaks the other language as his/her native language speaks the other language, each of the first feature value and the second feature value is a feature value capable of representing a difference in pronunciation, and a speech signal obtained from the first feature value after the conversion is presented to the first speaker.

Speech recognition method and apparatus
A speech recognition method includes receiving speech data, obtaining, from the received speech data, a candidate text including at least one word and a phonetic symbol sequence associated with a pronunciation of a target word included in the received speech data, using a speech recognition model, replacing the phonetic symbol sequence included in the candidate text with a replacement word corresponding to the phonetic symbol sequence, and determining a target text corresponding to the received speech data based on a result of the replacing.
