OPTICAL DISC DRIVE AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT

There is provided an optical disc drive that can guide the center of an optical disc to the position of a spindle motor, while allowing the number of components to be reduced. A base frame includes a stopper portion that comes into contact with an outer edge of the optical disc having reached the position of a spindle motor and that restricts backward movement of the optical disc. A switch arm includes a contact portion located on a side opposite to the stopper portion across the optical disc having reached the position of the spindle motor, and the switch arm uses the contact portion to push the optical disc toward the stopper portion.

A conveying roller position manipulation mechanism moves the position of a conveying roller between a first roller position where the conveying roller contacts an optical disc and a second roller position where the conveying roller is separated from the optical disc. A centering mechanism aligns the center of the optical disc with the position of a spindle motor. A chucking pulley operation mechanism manipulates the position of a chucking pulley configured to fix the optical disc to the spindle motor. The conveying roller position manipulation mechanism includes a rotary arm configured to move in response to a collision with the optical disc that approaches the position of the spindle motor, and at least one of the centering mechanism and the chucking pulley operation mechanism includes a member coupled to the rotary arm.

Optical disc drive

An optical disc drive includes a spindle connected to an optical assembly. A disc clamp device is configured to hold an optical disc on the spindle. A contiguous opening on at least two adjacent sides in a plane of a disc mount position intersect at a common corner of the optical disc drive.

Passive retraction of a hub clamp in an optical disc drive

Embodiments for passive retraction of a hub clamp in an optical disc drive. The optical disc drive may comprise a spindle hub coupled to an optical assembly. The optical disc drive may further include a disc clamp assembly configured to hold an optical disc on the spindle hub, the disc clamp assembly including a hub clamp partially comprised within a clamp carriage. The hub clamp of the optical disc drive may be biasedly drawn toward the spindle hub when in a first position and biasedly drawn toward the clamp carriage when in a second position. The bias may be generated by at least one ferromagnetic material integrated into the hub clamp and at least one ferromagnetic material integrated into the spindle hub.
